A true story of liberal heartlessness. The other day, I was talking with an extremely liberal friend who gloated: “Finally, we have increased the minimum wage.”
“I know the man who owns the factory up the road. He’s trying to keep jobs in this country. His customers refused to pay more for his products. He couldn’t afford those wages. He had to shut down machines and lay off thirty-five people. This is a rural area, and there aren’t any other jobs. Now, the products are made in China. ”
This is such a short entry because there was no answer from my liberal friend. But, later conversations confirmed that his faith in liberal ideals had not been shaken.
