Once again! The Prophet Isaiah tells us about Jesus! #22.

May all the world be blessed to Think Clearly about Who Jesus Is. Among all that He Is, He Is One Person of The Holy Trinity Who sent Isaiah to tell us about Jesus Coming to earth in Human Form!

~

Question 1: “How does Today’s Catholic Reading tell us about Isaiah predicting The Coming of Jesus?”

Answer: “Isaiah 26:1-6 was written about Jesus 700 years before The Prophesied Messiah came to earth!

‘On that day (700 years from now) they will sing this song in the land of Judah: ‘We have a strong city; He (God!) sets up walls and ramparts to protect us. Open up the gates to let in a nation that is just, one that keeps faith.’

~

Question 2: “What is ‘the nation that is just’ for which we Catholics (who live in The City of God) would open its ‘gates’?”

Answer: “It is The Catholic ‘nation’ that began with Jesus and His Disciples. He and His first Catholic Bishops came to ‘the strong city’ that was Jerusalem!”

~

Question 3: “What makes Jesus and His Disciples so important?”

Answer: “It was ‘A nation of firm purpose You keep in peace; in peace, for its trust in You.’

~

Question 4: “What Prophesy does Isaiah make about ‘the strong city’ of Jerusalem?”

Answer: “First, Isaiah gives this advice! ‘Trust in The Lord forever!’

~

Question 5: “Why did The Prophet Isaiah tell people to ‘Trust in The Lord forever’?”

Answer: “He tells us! ‘For The Lord is an eternal Rock.’ Then, the Prophet makes this Specific Prophecy about Jerusalem! ‘He humbles those in high places, and the lofty city He brings down; He tumbles it to the ground, levels it with the dust.’

~

Question 6: “Did That Prophecy of Isaiah come true?

Answer: “Yes! Around 770 years later, in the year 70 AD, The Romans literally ‘humbled those in the high places and brought down the lofty city’. The Historical Fact is clear! ‘not one stone was left standing on another’.”

~

Question 7: “Did Isaiah explain why Jerusalem was destroyed?”

Answer: “‘It is trampled underfoot by the needy, by the footsteps of the poor.’ The poor of Jerusalem were manipulated by the usual political interests who were so ‘needy’ to satisfy their self-righteous vanity that they organized rebellions against Roman Power within their once-holy City. Those early Protestants stopped loving God and loved themselves.”

~

Question 8: “Do The Psalms in Today’s Reading make that clear?”

Answer: “Today’s Psalms include Ps 118:1 and 8-9, 19-21, 25-27:

‘It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes.’

‘Open to me the gates of justice; I will enter them and give thanks to The Lord. This gate is The Lord’s; the just shall enter it.’

‘O Lord, grant salvation! O Lord, grant prosperity! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD; we bless you from the house of The Lord. The Lord is God, and He has given us light.’

Catholics respond to Those Truths with: ‘Blessed is He Who comes in the name of The Lord.’ The ‘Lord’ is Jesus!”

~

Question 9: “Does The Prophet Isaiah tell us what to do when we realize that Every Teaching of The Bible is Truth?”

Answer: “‘Seek The Lord while He may be found; call Him while he is near.’ Catholics know that we are the vainest of ‘fools’ if we do not use our lives to do that!”

~

Question 10: “The most important thing to me is getting my immortal soul into Heaven! Does Jesus Christ, The Prophesied Messiah, tell us how to do that?”

Answer: “Jesus is very clear about how to get our immortal soul into Heaven in Matthew 7:21, 24-27! First, He gives this warning! ‘Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in Heaven.’

~

Question 11: “After that warning, does Jesus divide all people into two groups?”

Answer: “He divides humanity into ‘wise men’ and ‘fools’! ‘Everyone who listens to these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.’

~

Question 12: “Who are the ‘fools’ who lose their souls by loving themselves more than God?”

Answer: “‘And everyone who listens to these words of Mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined.’
