One of the best things about television and the internet is that we are able to see that many of our officials aren’t really very bright. Many get into office simply by knowing or being related to someone who has gotten into a position to decide who will be a candidate by knowing or being related to someone who got that position by a similar process. Such selections go back for generations, and are not intended to do anything but make wealthy people wealthier.
Most public appearances are carefully scripted to be sure that the illusion of mental ability is provided. With the internet showing information about how things really are, such appearances often do more harm than good.
