“One-minute Reasons to Be Catholic!” #10.

Catholics live by what Elijah saw:  God is the “cause” of every “effect” in the trillions of light years of His Creation.  Since we are “made in the image of God”, we are the “cause” of every “effect” on our immortal soul.

Question 1:   “What ‘One-minute Reason to be Catholic’ did The Prophet Elijah give in Today’s Reading from 1 Kings 19:9-16?”

Answer:  “Elihah showed the difference between ‘Cause’ and ‘Effect’ when he told us he actually ‘saw God’!

‘At the mountain of God, Horeb, Elijah came to a cave, where he took shelter.  But the word of The Lord came to him, ‘Go outside and stand on the mountain before The Lord;  The Lord will be passing by.’

A strong and heavy wind was rending the mountains and crushing rocks before The Lord, but The Lord was not in the wind.
After the wind there was an earthquake, but The Lord was not in the earthquake.
After the earthquake there was fire, but The Lord was not in the fire.
After the fire there was a tiny whispering sound.’

Question 2:  “What did Elijah do?”

Answer:  “He realized The Cause of the ‘mountain-rending, rock-crushing wind’ was the ‘tiny whispering sound’ that is God!  ‘When he heard this, Elijah hid his face in his cloak.  Then, he spoke to The Lord:  ‘He replied, “I have been most zealous for The Lord, the God of hosts.  But the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and put Your prophets to the sword.  I alone am left, and they seek to take my life.’

Question 3:  “What makes Catholics different from others?\

Answer:  “We know that Creation is God’s Test of every person’s soul.  May all be blessed to do as Elijah, withstand persecution, and live by The Word spoken to The First Pope a thousand years after Elijah by The Son of God Who was predicted by over 300 Prophecies:

“And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”

Question 4:  “Why is that important?”

Answer:  “Being Catholic lets us obey The Call to Catholic Communion that He Who Fulfilled The Prophecies repeated 12 times in John 6 and twice more at The Last Supper:  ‘If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.’  The holiest Prophets could only see and hear God.  Catholics are blessed to ‘eat His Body and drink His Blood’.

No wonder we are persecuted.”
