“One-minute Reasons to ‘Be Catholic!'” #14.

Jesus gives us “Three Direct Orders” in Today’s Catholic Reading!  Obeying them lets us get our souls into Heaven.

~

Question 1:  “Does Jesus specifically tell us how to get our soul into Heaven in Today’s Catholic Reading?

Answer:  “He lets obedient believers escape the fate of King Ahab and his family in 1 Kings 21:17-29!  We and our families avoid dying with ‘dogs licking their blood from the streets’!”

~

Question 2:  “How can we avoid that?”

Answer:  “We look at Psalm 51:3-6, 11, 16, and ask God to:  ‘Have mercy on me, O God, in your goodness;  in the greatness of Your compassion wipe out my offense.  Thoroughly wash me from my guilt and of my sin cleanse me.’  We then ‘acknowledge our offense’ and realize:  ‘Against You only have I sinned, and done what is evil in Your sight.’  Then, we ask God to:  ‘Turn Your face away from my sins and blot out all my guilt.  Free me from blood guilt. . .'”

Question 3:  “After we have been freed from the ‘blood guilt’ of supporting any belief that contradicts This Catholic Teaching:  ‘Life must be protected from conception until natural death.’, what must we do to save our soul?”

Answer:  “We obey Direct Order #1 from He Who Fulfilled The Prophecies!  John 13:34:

Direct Order #1:  ‘I give you a New Commandment:  love one another as I have loved you.’

~

Question 4:  “How are we supposed to obey Direct Order #1 from Jesus?”

Answer:  “Jesus defines conventional wisdom in Mt. 5:43-48:  ‘Jesus said to His disciples:  ‘You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’

Jesus replaces that earthly teaching with Two More Direct Orders!

Direct Order #2.  ‘But I say to you, love your enemies

and

Direct Order #3.  ‘Pray for those who persecute you.’

~

Question 5:  “What does that let us do?”

Answer:  “Obeying Jesus lets us be ‘children of God’‘that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for He makes His sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.’

~

Catholics know:  ‘loving our enemies’ and ‘praying for those who persecute us’ let us be ‘Godlike’ enough ‘to shine our love on the bad and the good and cause rain (our prayers!) to fall on the just and the unjust.”

May God bless all to obey Today’s Three Direct Orders from Jesus so our souls may go to His Judgment among those described in John 15:14:  “You are My friends if you obey My Commands”!
