Is 55:1-3
Thus says the LORD:
All you who are thirsty,
come to the water!
You who have no money,
come, receive grain and eat;
Come, without paying and without cost,
drink wine and milk!
Why spend your money for what is not bread;
your wages for what fails to satisfy?
Heed me, and you shall eat well,
you shall delight in rich fare.
Come to me heedfully,
listen, that you may have life.
I will renew with you the everlasting covenant,
the benefits assured to David.

Ps 145:8-9, 15-16, 17-18Responsorial Psalm

R. (cf. 16) The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs.

The LORD is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger and of great kindness.
The LORD is good to all
and compassionate toward all his works.

R. The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs.

The eyes of all look hopefully to you,
and you give them their food in due season;
you open your hand
and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

R. The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs.

The LORD is just in all his ways
and holy in all his works.
The LORD is near to all who call upon him,
to all who call upon him in truth.
R. The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs.

Rom 8:35, 37-39Reading II

Brothers and sisters:
What will separate us from the love of Christ?
Will anguish, or distress, or persecution, or famine,
or nakedness, or peril, or the sword?
No, in all these things we conquer overwhelmingly
through him who loved us.
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life,
nor angels, nor principalities,
nor present things, nor future things,
nor powers, nor height, nor depth,
nor any other creature will be able to separate us
from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Mt 14:13-21Gospel

When Jesus heard of the death of John the Baptist,
he withdrew in a boat to a deserted place by himself.

The crowds heard of this and followed him on foot from their towns.

When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd,
his heart was moved with pity for them, and he cured their sick.

When it was evening, the disciples approached him and said,
“This is a deserted place and it is already late;
dismiss the crowds so that they can go to the villages
and buy food for themselves.”
Jesus said to them, “There is no need for them to go away;
give them some food yourselves.”
But they said to him,
“Five loaves and two fish are all we have here.”
Then he said, “Bring them here to me, ”
and he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass.
Taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven,
he said the blessing, broke the loaves,
and gave them to the disciples,
who in turn gave them to the crowds.

They all ate and were satisfied,
and they picked up the fragments left over—
twelve wicker baskets full.
Those who ate were about five thousand men,
not counting women and children.

Catholic Fundamentalism Interpretation:

The Loving Programmer makes it clear that those who feel a driving urge to approach Him by learning about The Program should come to He Who is The Source of all that is good.

We human programs don’t need to be rich to access His Wisdom, and thereby the entities He has programmed.  Being uncluttered by material goods seems to be a real plus.

And, this salvation is free!

What’s the point in exchanging your time and effort for a lot of what’s basically junk?

Do as I, The Loving Programmer, say, and you will have access to plenty in this world and the next.  Listen to me carefully, and you may be with Me in Heaven forever.  You who seek this are the true Kings among men, and I will make the same deal with you that I made with David.

The Loving Programmer lets us access His downloads for all we need.

He is open to having us access Him, and is slow to keep us from that access, despite our disobeying His Operating Instructions.

The Loving Programmer lets us access His downloads for all we need.

All your living, self-replicating programs look hopefully to You, and You download what’s needed when it’s needed.

The Loving Programmer lets us access His downloads for all we need.

The Loving Programmer operates perfectly in every way.  He is accessible to all who want to access Him, if they do so with a sincere desire to grow closer to Him.

The Loving Programmer lets us access His downloads for all we need.

Brothers and sisters, can any programmed entity or operation cut us off from The Program (Jesus Christ, who took perfect, obedient, human form and downloaded Himself on earth)?  Is there any torment that can take us from Him?

No.  We who are joined with The Program’s Love can remain faithful despite any who try to separate us from it.

I am convinced that nothing in The Creation Program is powerful enough to take us from Him.  We do not fear being erased, living longer, nor do we fear even the highest angels because they do not have His power.  No programmed entity is able to separate us from The Program.

When Jesus, The Program Who took perfect, obedient, human form and came among us, heard that John the Baptist, the last prophet told of The Program’s coming, was told that he had been brutally murdered, He got in a boat, and went to a lonely place.

The people heard, and walked to Him from their towns.  They had nowhere else to turn.  When He got out of the boat and saw the vast crowd, His heart pitied them, because they were searching for love, truth, and justice, and realized they could find none of those things in their religious/governmental structures.

He restored those who had errors in their human programs.

In the evening, the disciples came to Him (where else could they go?) and said, “This is a place the people have all left.  It’s late.  Send the crowds to the villages to feed themselves.”

Jesus said, “They don’t have to leave.  Give them something to eat.”

They answered, “We only have five loaves and two fish.”

He replied, “Bring them to me.”, and He told the people to sit down on the grass.  He took the five loaves and two fish, looked up to Programming HQ, said the blessing, broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples (prefiguring the Eucharist), who, in turn, gave them to the crowds.  (“Crowds” indicate the different groups moved to Him by different motivations.)  He showed that He had the power to program and to replicate programs, and that such power was given to Him by The Loving Programmer.

Everyone ate, not only of the replicated food programs, but they downloaded the knowledge that Jesus was, in fact, given such power by The Loving Programmer.  They picked up what was left over, and there was something for each of Israel’s tribes.  The Program had replicated and downloaded enough of the fish and bread programs so that five thousand men were fed, and many more women and children.

(One lesson: If we who have no other place to go follow Him to a deserted place, we shall be given access to downloads from Programming HQ.)
