Remembering Memorial Days

There aren’t as many parades as there used to be, and they aren’t as large. Still, we do remember that our country has been defended by brave men and women, many of whom died, were blinded, deafened, or crippled in the act of defending us.

As I am writing this, motorcycles are whizzing up and down the highway in front of my house. Many are ridden by veterans who made it back from their term of service. Statistically, they run greater risks of death or injury on their motorcycles than in their military service.

They ignore such fears, despite the odds against them. “I do not care about such things.”, they say, their lives giving meaning to their words. They are the stalwart men who have grown from courageous boys. They are Americans.
