Many wonder why Protestants go only so far toward Jesus and no farther. We respect and admire many Protestants who correctly believe God created all there is. They properly believe God’s Prophets predicted the place, time, family, activities, and mode of The Messiah’s death and Resurrection. Protestants properly proclaim the truth that they are saved by faith in Jesus. They understand that He may grant their souls eternal joy in Heaven.
Most Protestants are right about those things. Some of them see the steps leading up to a door. The Only Church Jesus Founded is on the others side of that door.
Why don’t more Protestants go up the steps and through the doorway? What keeps them from going farther? Scribes, pharisees, & Pastor Bobs discourage greater belief in every age: “Don’t go up those stairs. Stay with us! And, give me some money.”
Lk 11:47-54 helps us understand what keeps so many Protestants from moving up. From Luke, we learn of the similarities between Scribes, pharisees & Pastor Bobs.
The Lord said: “Woe to you who build the memorials of the prophets whom your fathers killed. Consequently, you bear witness and give consent to the deeds of your ancestors, for they killed them and you do the building.
Therefore, the wisdom of God said, ‘I will send to them prophets and Apostles; some of them they will kill and persecute in order that this generation might be charged with the blood of all the prophets shed since the foundation of the world, from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah who died between the altar and the temple building.
Yes, I tell you, this generation will be charged with their blood! Woe to you, scholars of the law! You have taken away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter.”
That is what modern Scribes, pharisees & Pastor Bobs do to this day. And, how do these “scribes and pharisees” of our our own, and every age, speak of The Only Church Jesus Founded by saying so clearly: “Verily, verily I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”
“When Jesus left, the scribes and Pharisees began to act with hostility toward him and to interrogate him about many things, for they were plotting to catch him at something he might say.”
