Something odd: One Prophet predicts the coming of another! Prophecies #1.

There are several Prophecies in Today's Reading. All are good reasons to Be Catholic! Prophecies #1.

Today’s Reading from Malachi 3:1-4 is very special:  The Prophet Malachi prophecies the coming of John the Baptist, the last Prophet to be martyred for his Faith:

“Thus says the Lord GOD:  ‘Lo, I am sending My messenger (John the Baptist) to prepare the way before Me;  And suddenly there will come to the temple the LORD Whom you seek (Jesus), And the messenger of the covenant whom you desire.'”

Then, Malachi asks Two Hard Questions!  “But who will endure the day of His coming?  And, who can stand when He appears?”

The answer to both questions:  “Catholics!”

Psalm 24:7-10 is a third Prophecy:  “Who is this King of Glory?  It is the Lord!”  Catholics are blessed to see a Fourth Prophesy!  “lift up your lintels… that the King of Glory may come in!” That is a Prophecy of Catholics letting Jesus come “in” to us by obeying The Call to Catholic Communion that He Who Fulfilled the Prophecies repeated 14 times:  “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.”

Today’s Reading from Hebrews 2:14-18 makes it clear That Prophesy still comes true!  “Since the children share in blood and flesh, Jesus likewise shared in them, that through death He might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is the devil, and free those who through fear of death had been subject to slavery all their life.”

Today’s Gospel has two more Prophets and Prophecies!  Luke 2:22-40 explains:  “Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon… it had been revealed to him by The Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Christ of the Lord…  when the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to Him, he took Him into his arms and blessed God, saying:

“Now, Master, You may let your servant go in peace, according to Your Word, for my eyes have seen Your salvation, which You prepared in the sight of all the peoples;  a light for revelation to the Gentiles and glory for your people, Israel.”

Then, another Prophet, Anna, “coming forward at that very time, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were awaiting the redemption of Jerusalem.”

May all be blessed to honor God’s Prophets, His Son, and The Church He Spoke into Being with His Church-Creating Word to His First Catholic Pope!

And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”

Today’s Simple Rhyme:  “May all be as blessed as Simeon to see / God, His Church, and eternity.”
