Spreading the Unword

In the middle third of the last century, all media tended to be pro-life, pro-family, pro-country, and pro-traditional values. They encouraged love more than hate. Then, the demons of the apostate angel began to gain power. Magazines and magazines were among the first to be corrupted with pornography and self-indulgence. It took television longer to sink into the mire, but it soon began to spread corruption. Every show began to undermine traditional values of God, country, and family and to accentuate the preferential behavior of behavior that had, only a decade or so previously, been called “deviant”.

The decline began with the acceptance of birth control. It became a part of American lives, disrupting and corrupting. At the same time, the Protestant denominations raced each other to see who could find the most convincing reasons to allow it, justifying the clear proscription in Genesis, 38; 6-9 that God was offended by willfully “spilling our seed upon the ground”. By 1973, this descent culminated in the Supreme Court’s decision to allow abortion, virtually on demand, throughout the nation.

And, the Word

When we talk with young people today, we find there’s a hunger for conversation with adults. Aside from increasingly rare chats with older people, they have no other way to find familiarity with traditional values. They are dimly aware that such things exist, and know that they need them. Once, a confused youngster could find morality and role models on shows like “Leave it to Beaver”, “Father Knows Best”, and similarly well-written, traditional morality plays. No more. Now, children are more lost than ever, with less guidance than ever.

As often as possible, we should do what we can to fill the void. Sound, traditional advice is as welcome to young people as limes to a sailor with the beginnings of scurvy.
