The First Catholic Martyr tells us what OUR “Last Words” should be. #5.

What “Last Words” did God tell The First Catholic Martyr to say?”

~

Answer:  “St. Stephen was the first Catholic to be killed for defending The Teachings of The One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church Jesus Christ Spoke Into Being with His Holy Word:  ‘And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.’

~

Question 2:  “Who killed St. Stephen?”

Answer:  “Acts 6:8-10, 7:54-59 tell us. ‘Certain members of the so-called Synagogue of Freedmen, Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and people from Cilicia and Asia, came forward and debated with Stephen, but they could not withstand the wisdom and the spirit with which he spoke.’

Question 3: “How did they react when the love of their personal opinions kept them from Thinking Clearly about what St. Stephen had learned from Jesus?”

Answer:  “‘When they heard this, they were infuriated, and they ground their teeth at him.’!”

~

Question 4:  “How did St. Stephen respond?”

Answer:  “‘But he, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked up intently to Heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and he said, ‘Behold, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.’

Question 5:  “What did those who hated those who saw The Truth of Jesus do?”

Answer:  “‘But they cried out in a loud voice, covered their ears, and rushed upon him together.  They threw him out of the city, and began to stone him.  The witnesses laid down their cloaks at the feet of a young man named Saul.’

~

Question 6:  “What were some of ‘The Last Words’ spoken on earth by St. Stephen, The First Catholic Martyr?”

Answer:  “‘As they were stoning Stephen, he called out ‘Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.’

~

Question 7:  “Did St. Stephen think of those ‘Final Words’ by himself?”

Answer:  “Jesus answers that question in Mt. 10:17:22.  ‘When they hand you over, do not worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say.  You will be given at that moment what you are to say.  For it will not be you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.’

Every Catholic prays that “The Spirit of The Father” will lead us to have our “last words” on earth begin with:  “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”

Then, we Pray For The Grace to show God that we obey His Command to “love our neighbors as ourselves” by kneeling down and joining St. Stephen in asking God to save the souls of Willful Protestants who attack His Church and people in so many ways:  “Lord, please do not hold this sin against them.”
