Once in a while, Catholic Fundamentalism’s suggestions about the way things are will cause the blood pressure of others to visibly increase. One such subject is Catholic Fundamentalism’s theory of dinosaurs.
In our day and age, children are made to spend countless classroom hours studying dinosaurs. This does them no good, but helps the other side by making future generations of voters less likely to believe in Biblical realities. The more dinosaurs are studied, the less real the Book of Genesis appears to be. And, the more a person thinks he knows about dinosaurs, the smarter and more knowledgeable he is encouraged to think he is about everything.
Those who hear about Catholic Fundamentalism are not usually offended by the notion that God can program energies and particles. They are not bothered by the idea that He can compile those programs into systems and beings. People who’ve seen movies that are programmed in two dimensions can easily imagine that God has the power to program in three dimensions.
But, when Catholic Fundamentalists explain dinosaurs, one can see the eyes narrow and foreheads furrow. We refer to Genesis, 6; 1-2: “When men had begun to be plentiful on the earth, and daughters had been born to them, the sons of God, looking at the daughters of men, saw they were pleasing, so they married as many as they chose. . . . .”
Some of these “sons of God” were, we believe, fallen angels. Others were the giants and heroes of earlier times. Their vain spirits included gluttony and rage. By utterly corrupting the huge human program in women’s ova, they were able to bring beings into existence that embodied their sins.
Swarms of their evil offspring filled the earth. We know some as brontosauruses. They were the embodiments of gluttony. Tyrannosauruses are the spirit of rage in living form. The Seven Deadly sins and all their variants became grotesque beings that manifested themselves in living form on land, sea, and air.
The Loving Programmer was neither pleased nor amused with what the fallen angels had made of His Creation Program. After several centuries, He erased most of the corrupt, living programs with The Flood. He also purged the human programs of all but Noah and his family.
To help provide future human programs with free will, He programmed The Flood, so that the “bones of sin” would be preserved. The deep waters of The Flood turned the sinful into stone, and thereby symbolized what The Loving Programmer would do to the disobedient souls of future ages.
Now, of course, all manner of humanists use those fossils to push back the beginnings of things. Their desire is always to further distance us from God, The Loving Programmer and His power to write and download The Creation Program. They, like the dinosaurs before them, memorialize themselves in mud.
Explaining “The Fossil Record”:
The densest “dinosaurs” were the most sinful of their number. They sank first. Their bodies were quickly buried by the swirling silt, much of it scraped from the earth by the powerful currents and huge icebergs that gouged and plowed the earth like giant bulldozers during The Flood. Less dense bodies were silted into place above them. The layers of sediment were quickly compressed into stone by the immense weight of six miles of water above.
In past two hundred years, worldly believers were prompt to say that the layers of fossils took billions of years to be laid down and covered with rock. Many choose to believe that theory. Their belief in God’s power diminishes as they push back Creation Week.
We are led to believe that The Loving Programmer wrote and downloaded The Creation Program fairly recently. Why would He take billions of years to do what He could do in six days? Who would spend fifty years building a bird house that could be made in an hour? Would God waste time?
We also understand why those more concerned with human vanity don’t choose to similarly believe in a God powerful enough to do what He had His Scripture describe.
