Question 1:  “How does Today’s Reading let Catholics save money and our souls?”

Answer:  “1 Cor 6:1-11 tells us not to hire lawyers to fight against each other because God’s ‘holy ones’ can provide ‘Holy Judgment’.  ‘Brothers and sisters:  How can any one of you with a case against another dare to bring it to the unjust for judgment instead of to the holy ones?  Do you not know that the holy ones will judge the world?’

Then, St. Paul asks three more questions to which Catholics are living answers:  ‘If the world is to be judged by you, aren’t you unqualified for the lowest law courts?   Do you not know that we will judge angels?  Then, why not everyday concerns?’

~

Question 2:  “Does St. Paul tell Catholics how to solve disagreements with each other? ”

Answer:  “Paul asks three more questions that advise us to turn to people with ‘standing in The Church’ to solve disagreements!  ‘If, therefore, you have courts for everyday matters, why do you use as judges people of no standing in the Church?  I say this to shame you.  Can it be that there is not one among you wise enough to settle a case between brothers?  But rather brother goes to court against brother, and that before unbelievers?’

~

Question 3:  “Does St. Paul teach us that we have ‘failed’ as Catholics if we file charges against each other in earthly courtrooms?”

Answer:  “St. Paul asks another question!  ‘Why not rather let yourselves be cheated?  Instead, you inflict injustice and cheat, and you do this to brothers.’

~

Question 4:  “What happens to the souls of those who ‘inflict injustice’?”

Answer:  “St. Paul’s next question answers that!  ‘Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit the Kingdom of God?’

~

Question 5:  “Does St. Paul tell us who will not ‘inherit the Kingdom of God’?”

Answer:  “‘Do not be deceived;  neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor boy prostitutes nor sodomites nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor robbers will inherit the Kingdom of God.  That is what some of you used to be.’

~

Question 6:  “How may those of us who ‘used to be’ among those sinners ‘bear fruit that will last’?”

Answer:   “We must keep our souls among the saved!  ‘But now you have had yourselves washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.’
