Todays Reading lets us see the Cains and Abels of every Age.

Why did this happen? Cain let his “lurking demon” lead him to believe: “If I kill Abel, God will have to love me more.”

~

Question 1. How do Cain and Abel ‘connect’ to Willful Protestants and Catholics in our Age?”

Answer: “The ongoing difference between Cain and Abel is in Genesis 4:1-15. ‘Abel became a keeper of flocks, and Cain a tiller of the soil.’“.

~

Question 2: “Did they both believe in God?”

Answer: “The Bible tells us they both believed. ‘In the course of time Cain brought an offering to the LORD from the fruit of the soil, while Abel, for his part, brought one of the best firstlings of his flock.’

~

Question 3: “How did God respond to their two gifts?”

Answer: “‘The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering He did not.’

~

Question 4: “How did Cain react to being ‘disfavored’?”

Answer: “‘Cain greatly resented this and was crestfallen.’

~

Question 5: “Did God tell Cain that he could, and should, do better?”

Answer: “‘So the LORD said to Cain: ‘Why are you so resentful and crestfallen? If you do well, you can hold up your head; but if you do not, sin is a demon lurking at the door: his urge is toward you, yet you can be his master.’

~

Question 6: “Did Cain ask God to help him overcome what led him to sin?”

Answer: “No! ‘Cain said to his brother Abel, ‘Let us go out in the field.’ When they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.’

~

Question 7: “Why did he do that?”

Answer: “Cain’s ‘lurking demon’ took over his mind. ‘The way for me to be closest to God is to kill anyone closer to Him than me!‘”

~

Question 8: “Did God then start to love Cain, the only person left in his generation on earth?”

Answer: “He punished Cain even though he was the last person on earth in his generation!”

~

Question 9: “Why didn’t God kill Cain instead of making him become ‘a restless wanderer on earth’ who would continue bringing death to neighbors?”

Answer: “God made Cain a living example for all who disobey This Teaching that His Church would provide: ‘Life must be protected from conception until natural death.’

~

Question 10: “Are those who refuse to provide or obey That Teaching among the children of Cain in every generation?

Answer: “Yes. ___” “No.___” “I do not want to think about that. ___.”
