Jesus promised “I come to divide.” Then, Jesus became more explicit. He divided humanity into two groups with His Word. “You are My friends if you obey My commands.”

What are the two groups?

1. His obedient “friends”.

2. His disobedient enemies.

+

God threw the disobedient angels out of Heaven. God threw Adam and Eve out of The Garden for their willful disobedience. Everyone understands those simple facts.

We all know that God punishes willful disobedience.

+

What is the 1st mistake Protestants make? They do not want to realize that their willful disobedience has eternal consequences.

+

That becomes clearer in John 3:36. “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God rests upon him.”

That passage has two parts. “He who believes in The Son has eternal life;” is the first part. All of Protestantism embraces that!

Protestants avoid the second part of the Passage: “. . but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God rests upon him.”

+

Jesus has become more explicit. He begins with “You are My friends if you obey My commands.”

And then, His Word of Doom descends: “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God rests upon him.”

+

Catholics are blessed to focus on The Actual Words of Jesus. We see the price that must be paid by all who willfully disobey Him. Many are led to think there is a “replacement for obedience”.

“I do enough by ‘believing’ in Jesus.”

The Actual Words of Jesus do not give us any way to be saved except by obeying Him.

+

Catholics obey The Actual Words of Jesus. “And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”

There is no better beginning than to focus on The Actual Words of Jesus.
