Why Catholics honor The First Catholic Martyr on this day:

Catholics know: John The Baptist was The Last Prophet AND The First Catholic Martyr.

The First Catholic Martyr Baptized Jesus and told the world Who Jesus Is and What He does in John 1:29:  “Behold! The Lamb of God Who takes away the sins of the world!”

John The Baptist had the courage to condemn the sin King Herod committed when he married his brother’s wife.  Herodias got revenge by asking for, and getting, “his head on a platter” when her daughter asked her what reward she should claim for dancing seductively before a king driven by lust.

St. Paul tells us in 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8 that we “please God by refraining from (all) immorality”.  He explains, “God did not call us to impurity but to holiness.  Therefore, whoever disregards this disregards not a human being but God, Who also gives His Holy Spirit to you.”

Catholics know “not to take advantage of or exploit a brother or sister in this matter, for The Lord is an avenger in all these things.”

That passage is a call to Be Catholic!  Not only Has God given His Holy Spirit to us, but also, His Son!  Catholics recognize The Power of God by receiving Catholic Communion from Catholic priests Ordained in Living Link with His Son’s First Catholic Bishops!  We are blessed to be The Only People on Earth who obey The Call to Catholic Communion that Jesus repeated 12 times in the last half of John 6 and twice more The Last Supper:  “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.”

There is no better way on earth to “refrain from immorality” than by doing what is necessary to receive, and keep receiving, That Holy Food from He Who was predicted by His First Catholic Martyr, John The Baptist.

It is amazing how hard some Victims of Protestantism will work to justify not “refraining from the immorality” of avoiding the Teachings of Jesus and His First Catholic Martyr, John The Baptist.
