. How does God keep people from sinking?

Question 1: “Was there ever a group of people on earth who wanted to be ruled by God?”
Answer: “The Twelve Tribes of Israel knew that God freed them from slavery to earthly leaders in Egypt. His Miracles led them to want to be ruled by Him.”

Question 2: “Why did they stop following God?”
Answer: “The richest people among them wanted leaders who would help them get more money from their neighbors.”

Question 3: “Is that why 1 Sm 8:4-22 tells us that ‘all the elders of Israel came in a body to Samuel at Ramah’?
Answer: “Yes. That is why they ‘said to him, ‘Now that you are old, and your sons do not follow your example, appoint a king over us, as other nations have, to judge us.’”

Question 4: “That was the end of freedom and faith for their families! What did Samuel do?”
Answer: “‘Samuel was displeased when they asked for a king to judge them. He prayed to The Lord, however, Who said in answer:
‘Grant the people’s every request.’”

Question 5: “Did God tell Samuel why people wanted to be led by men rather than by Him?”
Answer: “God knew! ‘It is not you they reject, they are rejecting Me as their king.’”

Question 6: “Why do many people ‘reject’ God and want earthly rulers?”
Answer: “They want leaders who help the richest and most powerful people get richer and more powerful. They always want leaders who will help them get more.”

Question 7: “Don’t people know that?”
Answer: “They are easily confused! Many will reject God for promises of a little money for themselves.”

Question 8: “If that’s all there is to political activity, what’s the point of life?”
Answer: “In every Age and in every Place, God separates the souls of those who obey His First Commandment from those who who put the their desires ‘before’ Him.'”

Question 9: “How has God been separating His people from ‘all the elders’ for the last 2,000 years?”
Answer: “Some people obey This Holy Word of His Son and others do not. ‘And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.’”
