Catholics ask “three new questions” about John 5:1-16. #12.

There are many “questions” about The Healing Power of Jesus.  Here are three “new questions”.

~

Question 1:  “What do Catholics see in the passage about Jesus seeing ‘the sick man who had no one to put him into Bethesda, the pool of healing waters ‘?”

Answer:  “‘When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had been ill for a long time,  (38 years!) He said to him, ‘Do you want to be well?”  The sick man answered him, ‘Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up.  While I am on my way, someone else gets down there before me.’

~

Question 2:  “What ‘new idea’ do Catholics have about that?”

Answer:  “There were many squads of armed Temple Guards reporting to those in charge.  The obvious thing to do would be to give a number to all who needed healing, have them get in line, and take their turn getting into the pool when the healing angel ‘stirred the water up’.”

~

Question 3:  “That makes sense!  Why didn’t The Temple Workers have the sick people get in line and take their turn?”

Answer:  “Rich people would pay to get them into the water first!  If there was an organized ‘line’ of people to be healed, those Temple Workers would lose that income.”

~

Question 4:  “What did Jesus do?”

Answer:  “Jesus solved the problem directly!  ‘Jesus said to him, ‘Rise, take up your mat, and walk.’  Immediately the man became well, took up his mat, and walked.’

~

Question 5:  “Did that a miracle impress everyone who saw it?”

Answer:  “Many were outraged!  ‘It is the sabbath, and it is not lawful for you to carry your mat.’  They ordered the healed man to tell them:  ‘Who is the man who told you to take up your mat and walk?’  The man did not know because Jesus had disappeared in the crowd.’

~

Question 6:  “Did Jesus return to the man?”

Answer:  “‘After this Jesus found him in the temple area and said to him, ‘Look, you are well;  do not sin any more, so that nothing worse may happen to you.’

~

Question 7:  “What did ‘the healed man’ do after that warning from The Person who cured him?”

Answer:  “He ‘committed a worse sin’!  He betrayed Jesus by reporting Him to the Temple Staff!   ‘The man went and told the Jews that Jesus was the one who had made him well.'”

~

Question 8:  “A ‘new question’!  Did ‘something worse’ happen to the man who betrayed Jesus?”

Answer:  “We know what happened to Judas after he betrayed Jesus!”

~

Question 9:  “Catholics ask a second ‘new question’:  ‘Did any of the Temple Workers care enough about suffering people to make this plea to Jesus?  ‘Please heal the rest of the sick people who are waiting to be cured.’

Answer:  “The Bible says they did the opposite!  ‘Therefore, the Jews began to persecute Jesus because He did this on a sabbath.’

~

Question 10: “Catholics ask a third ‘new question’!  Why weren’t The Temple Workers grateful to Jesus for curing the man who’d been sick for 38 years?

Answer:  “Those who were paid to get wealthy people into the ‘healing water’ would have lost their livelihoods if Jesus was allowed to openly ‘cure sick people’.”

~

In every age, some Profiteers of Protestantism protect their incomes by keeping donors  from obeying This Word of Jesus and getting the only “keys to The Kingdom of Heaven” that He died to leave to His Only Church on earth;

“And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”
