There are no more Indians around here

When I was a Protestant, I embraced “I believe so I am saved.”  I proclaimed my belief as truth.

Once, when driving through Pennsylvania, I found myself asking; “There are no more Indians around here. Why?”

A silly song popped unbidden into my mind:

“There are no more Indians around here.
There’s no Indian girls and boys
playing with little Indian toys.
There are no more Indians around here.”

After reading several books on Pennsylvania-Indian history, I realized in a stunning flash: “The Indians were exterminated by Land-Grabbing Protestants.”

When traveling through, or flying over, huge states named for Indian Tribes that had been wiped out, the enormity of the thought, “There are no more Indians around here.” sank in.

As soon as the armies of evil, cannibalistic Aztec and Inca theocracies were defeated, Catholic Monarchs and The Catholic Church protected Indians.  Catholics built churches, schools, hospitals, missions, and orphanages.

It was a shock to find that 85% of the peoples in Catholic-settled nations still have Indian DNA.
There are lots of Indians “around there“!

I was staggered by the historic difference between Protestant and Catholic in practice.  Then, another thought hit me.  The difference is still here!

A hard question appeared:  “Does the denomination I support have a clear, written condemnation of abortion and abortion-inducing birth control that kills billions of unborn children, even among the families of our congregations and clergy?”

I had a choice to make.  Would I go on repeating “I believe, so I am saved.” and continue to support my own “Denomination of Death”?

I read The Bible, understanding for the first time, The Decree of Jesus:

“Verily, verily I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”

Tears came to my eyes as I said, more meaningfully than ever before, “Thank you, Jesus!”
