43,000 competing schisms agree, “We believe in Jesus and The Bible.” Many do not take Jesus or The Bible more seriously than merely repeating that phrase.
That became clear when Catholic Fundamentalism explored Rev. 20. “And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3 He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time. . . 7 When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—and to gather them for battle.”
This Catholic Fundamentalism conclusion fits the historical facts: “The Thousand Year Reign was between the Fall of Rome and Martin Luther. In The Thousand Year Reign, Christendom was ruled by The Only Church Jesus Founded.
During The Thousand Year Reign of The Catholic Church, European slavery was widely eliminated. Government excess was held in check by the power of The Catholic Church. The balance of Church and State courts provided better justice. The Church began schools, hospitals, and universities. Monastic lands paid living wages to families. Occasionally, The Church would call for a Crusade in response to thousands of Moslem attacks and invasions of Christian towns, villages, and nations. Marriage was respected, moral standards were high, and the Commandments were better obeyed.
Then, Martin Luther personified what came up from the abyss. States encouraged vain men to destroy Christian unity with what would become tens of thousands of competing denominations. They continue vicious government and media attacks on The Church’s position on prayer for the dead, pornography, divorce, fornication, artificial birth control, abortion, and every sin. Government lost the checks and balances provided by The Catholic Church. Helpless citizens had no aid against untrammeled government power.
Rev 22:7 describes what happened: “When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth. . .” Over the next five hundred years, and into our own time, we have seen the results of satan having been allowed out of the abyss in the form of Martin Luther.
When Catholic Fundamentalism mentioned this, not one Lutheran clergyperson objected. To be fair, Lutherans are far better in beliefs and being than Luther. Similarly, Presbyterians are far better than founder John Calvin, the mass murderer of Geneva.
