St. John says “Be Catholic!”

The most beloved Disciple, John, does more than call to Christianity:  He calls to Catholicism.   We cannot read John 5 and 6, make the obvious connections, and rationally choose not to be Catholic.  St. John says “Be Catholic!”

John 5: 19 begins “Jesus answered the Jews:   ‘My Father is at work until now, so I am at work.’  For this reason they tried all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the sabbath but He also called God His own Father, making Himself equal to God.”   John thereby provides an understanding about Catholic Teaching on The Holy Trinity.

Then, John tells us in 5:21 what Jesus said about His Power and Authority:

“For just as the Father raises the dead and gives life, so also does the Son give life to whomever He wishes.”   A Key To Salvation is procured by connecting  that passage to the very next Chapter, 6:53-66.  There,  Jesus clearly tells us, half-a-dozen times, to whom He wishes to give life:  “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.”

Do we see the clear connection?  Jesus says in 5:21  “so also does the Son give life to whomever He wishes.”  Then, Jesus says six times in John 6:53-66, who it is to whom He wishes to give life:  “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.”

Who can miss that?  The connection is clear.  If that connection cannot be made, it is because demons have short-circuited the mind.  Anyone who cannot connect “so also does the Son give life to whomever He wishes” to “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.” has had some delicate neural connections short-circuited by demons.

Does Jesus have the power to do make such an awesome decision about the fate of our immortal soul?   In 5:22, He tells us He has been given that power:  “Nor does the Father judge anyone, but he has given all judgment to the Son, so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father.  Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father Who sent Him.”

Those who will be saved do not avoid understanding that  “honor” without “obedience” is a sham.  The true meaning is “Whoever does not honor and obey The Son does not honor and obey the Father Who sent Him.”

“I cannot do anything on my own;  I judge as I hear, and my judgment is just, because I do not seek my own will but the will of the one who sent me.”

Those who seek to do His Will must connect “so also does the Son give life to whomever He wishes” to “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.” and come to one conclusion:  “I must do what is necessary to receive Catholic Communion, His Actual Body and Blood, to be saved.  Now that I connect those passages, there is no other way for me to get to Heaven.”

It is clear.  St. John says “Be Catholic!”
