Tuesday, July 10, 2012. Today’s Reading is from the Prophet Hosea. It concerns the fate of those who follow false gods. We have to see the last line to see what God is telling us. With our own minds, we can tell that the prophecy is coming true for we who live in Godless governments, right now:
The reading is from 1 Hosea 8: 4-7, 11-13:
Thus says the LORD:
They made kings in Israel, but not by my authority;
they established princes, but without my approval.
With their silver and gold they made
idols for themselves, to their own destruction.
Cast away your calf, O Samaria!
my wrath is kindled against them;
How long will they be unable to attain
innocence in Israel?
The work of an artisan,
no god at all,
Destined for the flames?
such is the calf of Samaria!
When they sow the wind,
they shall reap the whirlwind;
The stalk of grain that forms no ear
can yield no flour;
Even if it could,
strangers would swallow it.
When Ephraim made many altars to expiate sin,
his altars became occasions of sin.
Though I write for him my many ordinances,
they are considered as a stranger’s.
Though they offer sacrifice,
immolate flesh and eat it,
the LORD is not pleased with them.
He shall still remember their guilt
and punish their sins; they shall return to Egypt.”
That last phrase is the frightening one. In Egypt, government and religion were one. There was no separation of church and state. All were enslaved by the same sort of people who run most countries, today.
All of us, whose countries are increasingly apostate, became free, just as the Northern Tribes became free from David’s descendants. Now, we are in the process of being “returned to Egypt”, which is ever a symbol for government slavery. We don’t even have to leave home. Egypt is coming to us in the form of ever bigger government, nit-picking regulations, and confiscatory taxation. As the prophet Hosea predicted, we whose governments have left God are being returned to slavery.
We’ll be able to stay in our homes for the immediate future. But, the earthly gods will soon demand our forced relocation to environmentally suitable cubicles. How else can the earth be saved from Global Freezing/Warming?
