St. Isidore of Seville

St. Isidore begins by providing a brief “History of his History Books”:

“Julius Africanus, under the emperor Marcus Aurelius Antonius, was the first among us to compose, using a simple style of history, a brief chronology organized according to generations and reigns. From there, Bishop Eusebius of Caesaria and the priest Jerome of holy memory edited a multipart history of the canons of chronicles organized according to reigns and times. After these came others, in particular, Bishop Victor of Tunnunna who, having reviewed the histories of the previous times, filled out the deeds of succeeding ages up to the consolate of Justin the Younger. We have recorded here, as briefly as we were able, a summary of the times from the beginning of the world up to the principates of the emperor Heraclius (died 641) and of King Sisebut (died 621) of the Goths, laying down, bit by bit, the descending order of times, so that, by means of the information provided, the whole of the past ages might be known.

(13 trillion light years of History precede God’s Programming of modern peoples of earth.)

1.God created everything in six days. (Today, modern telescopes and computers let us recognize that the universe has been expanding for at least 13 trillion light years. Still, St. Isidore and The Bible’s Creation Account is correct, understanding that each “day” of downloading The Creation Program may be trillions of light years. The Bible and St. Isidore gives us all we ‘need to know’ to put ourselves in perspective with all of God’s Time and Space that is relevant to us.): “On the first day He fashioned light; on the second, the firmament of heaven; on the third, the land and the sea; on the fourth, the stars; on the fifth, the fish and the birds; on the sixth, the animals and the beasts of burden and finally the first man, Adam, in His image.

2. (The updated DNA Programming of Adam’s son, Seth, is dated and described, telling us when we, his heirs, had our beginnings as God’s people on earth.) Adam, at age 230, bore Seth, who was born in the place of Abel. (Seth was God’s replacement for Abel, murdered by Cain. The two represent the good and evil possible among men.) Seth means “resurrection” because in him was resuscitated the first seed, that is, the seed of the sons of God. Seth, at age 205, bore Enosh, who was the first to begin invoking the name of God. Enosh, at age 190, bore Kenan, whose name means “the nature of God.” (In three generations, Adam’s Program had been updated to provide Humanity with the ‘closeness’ to and ‘distance’ from God that He wanted among the people on earth.) At the same time, Cain became the first, before the flood, to build a city, which he filled solely with the multitude of his own descendants. (Human “city-building” was not necessarily something in which God wanted neighbor-loving people involved, but was welcomedby everyone who embraced the sins of pride, envy, greed, gluttony, anger, lust, and sloth that many“brother-killers” chose to let rule their lives on earth.)

3. Kenan, at age 170, bore Mahalalel, whose name means “plantation of God.” (Kenan’s upgraded DNA let him begin spreading “plantations of God”, as opposed to “cities of Cain”.) Mahalalel, at age 165, bore Jared, which means “descending” or “beseeching.” Jared, at age 162, bore Enoch, who was lifted up by God (Every electron of every atom in his DNA molecules was “lifted up” to be “inspected”), and who is reported to have written quite a few things, but which, on account of their antiquity, are refuted by the fathers as of suspect faith.

4. Enoch, at age 165, bore Methuselah (3074 BC), who, according to his lifespan, is discovered to have lived fourteen years after the flood, yet he is not found to have been on the ark. On account of this, some conjecture, with false opinion, that he might have lived after the flood, having spent some time with his father Enoch, who was lifted up. In this generation, the sons of God (fallen angels) lusted after the daughters of men. Methuselah, at age 167, bore Lamech. In this generation, giants were born. In this age also, Jubal, from the line of Cain, discovered the art of music and his brother Tubal Cain was the inventor of the arts of copper and iron. (The Copper and Iron Ages began to replace “The Stone Ages” with “Increasingly Harder MetalAges”.)

5. Lamech, (Son of Cain, whose name means “Powerful”.) at age 190, bore Noah (Amazingly, Ussher dates that to the exact date of October 23, 4004 BC!) who, by divine oracle, was ordered to build the arc in the five-hundredth year of his life. In these times, as Josephus reports, some men, who knew that they were about to die by either fire or water, inscribed their discoveries on two columns made of brick and stone, so that the memory of those things which they had discovered in their wisdom might not be erased. Their stone columns are reported to have withstood the flood and remain in Syria to this very day. (So far, the stone columns do not seem to have been recovered.)

6. In Noah’s six-hundredth year, the flood is recorded to have occurred. Josephus reports that his ark came to rest among the mountains of Armenia, which are called Ararat. There were three sons of Noah, out of which seventy-two nations were born, that is, fifteen from Japheth, thirty from Ham, and twenty-seven from Shem. The first age came to an end in the year 2,242. (This first age may have been when God replaced most of the People on Earth with those with tsunami of DNA from Noah, Shem, Japeth, Ham, and their wives. Describing this as“The Flood” may have been the only way languages of ancient people could describe their “Tidal Waves” of their DNA that washed away most of those with lesser thinking abilities.)

7. Shem, in the second year after the flood, when he was 100 years old, bore Arpachshad, from whom the people of the Chaldeans arose. This Shem is reported to have been Melchisedech, who was the first after the flood to build the city of Salem, which now is called Jerusalem.8. Arphaxad, at age 135, bore Shelah, from whom came the ancient Salamites or Medians. Shelah, at age 130, bore Eber, after whom the Hebrews were named.

9. Eber, at age 134, bore Peleg, in whose time the Tower of Babel was built, and the division of languages was effected. The height of this tower is said to have stretched four miles, starting out wide and becoming narrower so that the immense weight might be more easily sustained. (One of the first pyramids was so heavy it collapsed under its own weight, causing one in the process of being built to cause the builders to lessen the angle of its top third. St. Isidore was aware of this!) They describe the marble temples there as being unmatched in precious stones and gold and many other things that seem unbelievable. (Not only were the skills to cut and carve huge stones, some fifty feet long, into perfect rectangles, but on a smaller scale, tiny jewels could be precisely carved and faceted by those born of “The Flood” of New DNA.) The giant Nimrod constructed this tower. After the confusion of tongues, he departed from there for Persia and taught them to worship fire.

10. Peleg, at age 130, bore Reu. In these times, temples were first constructed. And certain princes of the peoples began to be adored as gods. (The first ancient “temples” and people so brilliant they were thought of as “gods” came to rule the earth, forming those who passed on their various genetic abilities.) and Reu, at age 132, bore Serug, under whom the kingdom of the Scythians arose, where Tanaus first ruled. Serug, at age 130, bore Nachor. The kingdom of the Egyptians arose for the first time, with Zoes ruling there first. (The most brilliant of these founded families whose genes became Tribes and Peoples of Medes, Persians, Scythians, Egyptians, Greeks, and all the others whose names continue, both in words and in living form as we see in what follows:)

11. Nachor, at age 79, bore Terah, at the time when the kingdom of the Assyrians and the Sicyonans (Sicyon was a Greek City between Athens and Sparta.) rose up. The first who ruled in Assyria was Belus, though some consider it to have been Saturnus. (Saturnus became a Greek God) And the first in Sicyon was Aegialeus, after whom Aegialea, which today is called the Peloponnesus, is named. (All of Greece was named after their most important and successful person.)

12. Terah, at age 70, bore Abraham. (Abraham was blessed with the ability to speak with God and with the love of, and obedience to, God to obey even His Order to sacrifice his son. No one else on earth was blessed to do that!) At the same time Ninus ruled as king of the Assyrians. He was the first to institute wars and invented the instruments of weaponry. In this age the art of magic was discovered in Persia by Zoroaster, the king of the Bactrians. He was killed by King Ninus. (Magic was not as powerful as weaponry!) Also the walls of Babylon were built by Samiramis, queen of the Assyrians. From the flood to the birth of Abraham: 942 years. The second age came to an end in the year 3,184.

13. Abraham, at age 100 (1538 BC), bore Isaac from the “liberated” Sarah. But previously he had born, from his handmaiden Hagar, Ishmael, from whom came the people of the Ishmaelites,who later were called “Agarenes” and finally, “Saracens.” Africa, Arabia, The Middle East, and, for a while, parts of Europe.) (Those children took over much of

14. Isaac, at age 60 (1478 BC), bore twins, of whom the first was Esau, from whom came the Edomites, and the second, Jacob, who bore the cognomen “Israel,” after whom the Israelites were named. In this time, the kingdom of the Greeks began, where Inachus was the first to rule. (As with Cain and Abel, brothers had varying degrees of God’s DNA.)

15. Jacob, at age 91 (1387 BC), bore Joseph. In these times, Serapis, son of Jove, king of the Egyptians, upon dying, was lifted up among the gods and the city of Memphis was founded in Egypt. In that time, at Lake Triton, Minerva appeared in the form of a virgin. (St. Isidore introduces the smartest woman mentioned so far, the “inventress”, Minerva.) She is said to have excelled with many inventions. She is said to have been the inventor of craftsmanship. (Women still encourage “craftsmen” to make things worthy of feminine approval.) She invented the shield and the bow and she taught how to make spears and dye wool. (Not only did she invent weapons of offense and defense, but also, ways to dye uniforms to identify troops!) In this age also King Phoroneus, son of Inachus, excelled. He was the first to institute laws and trials in Greece.

16. Joseph lived 110 years. From this time, Greece, with Argos ruling, began to have crops, with seeds imported from elsewhere. One hundred forty four years after the death of Joseph (1243 BC), the Jews found themselves in servitude in Egypt. Prometheus, whom fables imagine to have formed men out of mud, is recorded to have lived in these times. At this time also, his brother Atlas (Inventor of Astronomy), discovered astrology and was the first to consider the movement and order of the sky. Also, Mercury, grandson of Atlas, was expert in many arts. On account of this, upon his death, he was lifted up among the gods. In that age also, Proclytus was the first to harness a team of horses. (We infer that he invented ways to let “teams of horses” increase the work that could be done with the plows, wagons, and chariots they pulled.) At the same time Cecrops founded Athens and called the people of Attica “Athenians” after the other name of Minerva. He also was the first to order Jove to be adored with a gentile rite, immolating a bull in sacrifice. At this time Corinth was founded in Greece and there the art of painting was discovered by Cleanthes. (This was important! Not only did minerals and organic materials have to be combined to make lasting color, but Cleanthes had to invent brushes that had to be invented, sized, shaped, and manufactured along with papyrus, paper, wood, and stone surfaces to be painted!) At that time the Curetes and Corybantes were the first to invent harmonious and modulated formations of soldiers. (The phalanx became superior to less-organized soldiery as the children of Noah continued to “wash away” their enemies.) At that time also a flood in Thessaly under Deucalion (The legacy of Noah continued as Deucalion was so praised as to BE Noah and the one to save HIS family from The Flood!) and a fabulous fire with Phaethon (Destroyed by a lightning bolt from Zeus?) are recorded to have happened.

17. Moses, at age 40 (1446 BC), guided the people, liberated from servitude in Egypt, into the wilderness. At this time the Jews began to have, through Moses, both letters and law. At that time the Temple of Delphi was built. Viticulture was invented in Greece. (Having grapes let them have wine that helped them ignore God’s greater love for Moses, a divinely inspired “solace”?)18. Joshua, the successor of Moses, led the people for twenty-seven years. In these times, Erichthonius, the prince of the Athenians, was the first to harness a team of horses in Greece. (That let the Greeks catch up to the accomplishments of Proclytus in 16. The earliest recorded case of “patent infringement”?)

19. Othniel led for forty years. Cadmus, the first to invent Greek letters, ruled in Thebes. (8th century BC. Another consideration: was the “Thebes” in Greece founded by the same people who founded the “Thebes” in Egypt? Were they different cities of the same people on both sides of the Mediterranean Sea?) At the same time Linus and Amphion were the first among the Greeks to excel in the art of music. The Idaean Dactylites, at the same time, discovered the use of iron in Greece. (Writing, music, and iron-working came into being at the same time, when The Iron Age began.)

20. Ehud led for eighty years. In these times fables were devised: about Triptolemus who, born aloft with the wings of dragons, distributed food to the poor as he flew at the command of Ceres; about the Hippocentaurs, in which were combined the characteristics of man and horse; about Phrixus and his sister Helle who crossed the sea conveyed by rams; about the harlot Gorgon who had serpents for hair and anyone looking at whom was turned into stone; about Bellerophon who fought (on the back of) a horse that flew with wings; about Amphion who, with the music of the zither, moved rocks and stones. (Did people begin to dance to “rock bands”?)

21. Deborah led for forty years. In this same time Apollo discovered the zither and invented the art of medicine. (“Medicine” was certainly more useful than “rock bands” which explains why Apollo’s name is more familiar than that of “Amphion”.) Then, also, fables were devised about Daedalus and his son Icarus who flew with wings they fashioned themselves. (The first“gliders” are mentioned.) In this age, Latinus Picus, thought to be the son of Saturn, first ruled. (He is the first ruler of The Latin People. Interestingly, he is credited with using animal manure as fertilizer.)

22. Gideon (Around 1184 BC) led for forty years. In that age the city of Tyre was constructed. Also the other Mercury (“Mercury”, “Hermes” was among the “Dii Consentes”, which is what Romans called “The Twelve Major Gods”. They may have been versions of The Twelve Sons of Jabob who founded major Tribes and People.) discovered the lyre and gave it to Orpheus. In this time Philemon was the first to institute the chorus in Pythium. At that time also Linus of Thrace, the [music] teacher of Hercules, was said to have been illustrious in the art of music. In addition, the navigation of the Argonauts is recorded. (Music and navigation became important developments as people got their words and travels in harmony.)

23. Abimelech led for three years. He killed his 70 brothers. Hercules devastated Ilium and in Libya killed Antaeus, the inventor of the art of gymnastics. (That inventor came to an unhappy end as simultaneous happenings occurred in North Africa, Greece, and Israel.)

24. Tola led for twenty-three years. In his times Priam ruled Troy, after Laomedon. A fable is told at that time about the beast of the Minotaur enclosed in the labyrinth.25. Jair led for twenty-two years. At the same time (around 776 BC?) Hercules instituted the Olympic competition. The nymph Carmentis invented Latin letters. (Rome was built on letters that were easier to write and read than the earlier letters of Phoenicia and Greece.)

26. Jephthah led for six years. In his time, Hercules, living in his fifty-second year, injected himself with flames on account of the pain of his disease. At the same time Alexander raped Helen and the Trojan war (Ending in 1184 BC with the defeated Aeneas leaving for Rome.) surged for ten years. Ibzan led for seven years. The Amazons took up arms for the first time. Abdon led for eight years. In his third year, Troy was captured and Aeneas came to Italy.

27. Sampson (Born in 1001 BC) led for twenty years. Ascanius, son of Aeneas, founded Alba. (In the Northwest quarter of Italy, this is the first named settlement in that area.) Also fables were devised about Ulysses and of the Sirens at the same time.

28. The priest Heli led for forty years. The Ark of the Covenant was captured by foreigners (In 1024 BC, the Philistines took The Ark of The Covenant.) The kingdom of the Sicyonans (Western Greece, North of Sparta.) came to an end. Samuel and Saul led for forty years. The kingdom of the Lacedaemonians arose (around 900-1000 BC). And Homer is reputed to have been the first poet in Greece. From the promise of Abraham until David: 940 years. The third age came to an end in the year 4,125. (1010 BC.)

29. David ruled for forty years (beginning in 1010 BC). Codrus, king of the Athenians, was killed as he voluntarily offered himself to the enemy for the well-being of the country. And Carthage (814 BC) was built by Dido, (She was from Tyre, where Baal was worshiped and children were sacrificed. Dido may have built the city on an earlier Phoenician settlement from Tyre. She bought enough land for “an ox-hide to cover” from North African peoples. When cut into a long strip maybe an eighth or a quarter of an inch wide, it ‘covered’ what would become the large city of Carthage.) with Gath, Nathan, and Asapaht prophesying in Judea.

30. Solomon ruled for forty years. He (began) building the Temple of Jerusalem in the fourth year of his reign (957 BC) and finished it in the eighth year (949 BC ).

31. Rehoboam ruled for seventeen years. The kingdom of Israel was separated from Judah (931 BC), the ten tribes being separated from the two, and they began to have kings in Samaria. In this age, Samos was founded and the sibyl Erythraea was regarded as illustrious.

32. Abijam ruled for three years. Under him Abimelech, high priest of the Jews, was regarded as illustrious. Asa ruled for forty-one years. Achias, Amos, Jehu, Joel, and Azaria prophesied in Judea. Josaphat ruled for twenty-five years. Elijah, Elisha, Abdias, Azarias, and Micaeasprophesied. Jehoram ruled for eight years. Elijah, Elisha, and Abdias prophesied. Ahaziah ruled for one year. Elijah, whose worthy miracles numbered seven, was taken up (by God in ).

33. Athalia ruled for seven years. The priest Jonadab, son of Rechab, was regarded as brilliant, etc. Joida the priest was the only one after Moses who was said to have lived 130 years. Joash ruled for forty years. Zacarias the prophet was killed. Elisha, whose miracles (virtutes) were said to number fourteen, died. Lycurgus was regarded as a distinguished lawmaker in Greece. (The first Lycurgus lived in Sparta, (870-730 BC). Took a while for the brilliance of his Sparta-Creating Laws to be recognized. A second Lycurgus, probably named for him, was an Athenian between 390-324 BC.) Amaziah ruled for twenty-nine years. Some assert that Carthage was founded at this time, but others say earlier. (814 BC is the usual date provided, though Dido may have done so earlier, with less formal recognition from the Home City of Tyre.)

34. Azariah ruled for fifty-two years. The Olympic (games) were established for the first time by the Greeks. (776 BC, in Olympia, Greece.) A sheep spoke in Greece. King Sardanapalus was burned willingly in a fire. (The second important royal figure to impose that agonizing end upon himself, following the example of Hercules in the preceding Age, paragraph #26) The kingdom of the Assyrians was removed to Media. At that time, Hesiod the poet excelled. And Phidon Argivus discovered weights and measures, (That gave Greeks a standard system of weights and measurements throughout the Southwestern Greece and the rest of their Trading Empire, which rivaled that of the Phoenicians, mostly along the North Shore of the Mediterranean Sea.) with Hosea, Amos, Isaiah and Jonah prophesying in this age in Judea.

35. Jotham ruled for sixteen years. Remus and Romulus were born, (Romulus founded Rome in 753 BC.) with Hosea, Joel, Isaiah, and Micah (Micah 5:2 specifically predicted that The Prophesied Messiah would be born in Bethlehem.) prophesying in Judea. Ahaz ruled for sixteen years. In his times Romulus founded Rome (753 BC). And Sennacherib, king of the Assyrians, moved the ten tribes of Israel from Samaria to Media, and sent the neighboring Samarites to Judea. (Descendants of important, “God-like Peoples” were mixed together.)

36. Hezekiah ruled for twenty-nine years. Under him Isaiah and Hosea prophesied. At this time Romulus first chose soldiers from among the people. He also chose one hundred most noble men from among the people, who, because of their age, were called “senators” and because of their care and solicitude were called “fathers of the republic.”

37. Manasseh ruled for fifty-five years. At the same time Numa Pompilius was placed over the Romans. He was the first to institute vestal virgins and priests among the Romans and he filled the city with a great number of false gods. He added two months to the ten months of the Roman year: he dedicated January to the heavenly gods and February to the gods of the underworld. At that time also, the sibyl Samia excelled.

38. Ammon ruled for twelve years. In his time Tullus Hostilius, king of the Romans, (673-642 BC) took a census of the republic for the first time, because the population of the whole world was still unknown. He was also the first to use the color purple as a sign of honor. (4,556 years from The Beginning.)39. Josiah ruled for thirty-two years. Thales of Miletus (Milesius) excelled as a philosopher of physics. Having come to understand the defects of the sun with the most acute scrutiny, he was the first to investigate the number of astrology, with Jeremiah, Olda, and Sophonia prophesying in Judea. (He did not have the expertise of Babylonian Astronomers, who had nearly 2,000 more years of experience studying movements of Planets and Constellations.)

40. Jehoiakim ruled for eleven years. In his third year Nebachodnezzar made captive Judea a tributary. At that time Daniel, Ananias, Azarias, and Misael excelled in Babylonia. Zedekiah ruled for eleven years. The king of Babylon, coming to Jerusalem a second time, led him away captive along with his people, the Temple having been burned down in the 454 year after its construction. At the same time, the woman Sappho excelled in Greece with various poems. Solon gave laws to the Athenians.

41. From David to the migration to Babylon: 485 years. The fourth age came to an end in the year 4,610. (In 598 and 587 BC, the Jewish people were taken to Babylon, where they remaineduntil 538 BC.)

42. The captivity of the Hebrews lasted for seventy years, during which time the fire was removed from the altar of God and deposited in filth. It is claimed that it was still burning after the seventieth year, the year of the return (of the Jews). During the same period of captivity, the story of Judith was written. Also Pythagoras, the philosopher and inventor of the art of arithmetic; Pherecydes, the first writer of histories; and Xenophanes, the inventor of tragedies, were regarded as distinguished. (Public Theatre became a useful tool governments used to teach the desired morals, or lack of same.)

43. Darius ruled for thirty-four years (Leading the Achaemenid Empire between 522-486 BC). In his second year, the captivity of the Jews ended, from which time in Jerusalem there were princes, not kings, up until Aristobulus. At that time the Romans, having expelled their kings, began to have consuls.

44. Xerxes ruled for twenty years (486-465 BC). Aeschylus, Pindar, Sophocles, and Euripides, were celebrated as distinguished authors of tragedies. Herodotus, the author of histories, and Zeuxis, the painter, were also acknowledged. (We learn that the written words of Herodotus and many authors and playwrights lasted far, far longer than any paintings by Zeyxus or other ancient painters, except for the first unknown artists, whose paintings are still seen and admired in the deep caves of Europe that have lasted longer than any written or spoken words from the past.)

45. Artaxerxes, also known as Longimanus, ruled for forty years (465-434 BC). With him ruling, Ezra the priest renovated the law that had been burned by the invading peoples and Nehemiah restored the walls of Jerusalem. Aristarchus, Aristophanes, and Sophocles were regarded as distinguished authors of tragedy. Also Hippocrates the doctor, Socrates the philosopher, and Democritus excelled.46. Darius, also known as Nothus, ruled for nineteen years (522-486). This age saw the philosopher, Plato, and Gorgias, the first rhetor.

47. Artaxerxes ruled for forty years. In his time the story of Esther, it is taught, was completed. Also Plato and Xenophon were regarded as distinguished Socratics. (4,834)

48. Artaxerxes, also known as Ochus, ruled for twenty-six years. Demosthenes was acknowledged to be the first orator and Aristotle was reported to be the first dialectician. Plato died (423 BC).

49. Arses, son of Ochus, ruled for four years. Xenocrates was regarded as an illustrious philosopher.

50. Darius (III) ruled for six years (326-330 BC). Alexander, conquering Illyricum and Thrace, from there took Jerusalem and, entering the Temple, burned sacrifices to God. The kingdom of the Persians still remained standing. From this point began the kings of the Greeks. (Greek Generals, who took power after Alexander died in 323 BC, ruled lands from India West through Greece and Egypt.)

51. Alexander the Macedonian (336-323 BC) ruled for fifteen years. In his last five years, in the order of years by which they are numbered, he obtained the monarchy of Asia, having destroyed the kingdom of the Persians. His first seven years are thought to have been spent among the kings of the Persians. From this point begin the kings of Alexandria.

52. Ptolemy, son of Lagus, ruled for forty years. (Ptolemy I and Ptolemy IV warred with Hebrews from 312 to 217 BC. They took Acre, Joppa, Gaza, Samaria, and Jerusalem.) Having seized Judea, he moved many of the Hebrews into Egypt. In this time Zeno the Stoic, Menander the comic, and Theophrastus the philosopher excelled. At the same time the first book of the Maccabees was begun. (Many of theses dates contradict Historical Records. May be errors by transcribers over the past 1,400 years.)

53. Ptolemy Philadelphus ruled for thirty-eight years (283-246 BC). He released the Jews that were in Egypt and, restoring the holy vase to Eleazar the priest, he sought out seventy translators and translated the divine scriptures into Greek. (3rd Century BC) At the same time Aratus was acknowledged as an astrologer and the silver coins of the Romans were minted for the first time.

54. Ptolemy Evergetes ruled for twenty-six years (246-220 BC. Under him Jesus, the son of Sirach, composed the Book of Wisdom. (4,978, or 196-175 BC.)

55. Ptolemy (IV) Philopator ruled for twenty-seven years (221-204 BC). The Jews were defeated by him in battle, 60,000 soldiers falling. At the same time the consul Marcellus conquered Sicily.

56. Ptolemy Epiphanes ruled for twenty-four years (204-196 BC. In his time the events occurred which are contained in the story of the second book of the Maccabees. In this age the Romans ordered the vanquished Greeks to be freed, saying: “It is impious to enslave people from theplace where philosophy, the master of morals and the inventor of liberal disciplines, first arose.” At the same time Ennius was celebrated as the first distinguished Latin poet of Rome.

57. Ptolemy Philomater ruled for thirty-five years (221-205 BC). Antiochus overcame him in battle and oppressed the Jews with various calamities. At the same time Scipio conquered Africa. Terence the comic excelled.

58. Ptolemy Evergetes ruled for twenty-nine years (205-180 BC). At this time Spain was conquered by the Romans under the consul Brutus.

59. Ptolemy Soter ruled for seventeen years (305-282/3 BC). Varro and Cicero were born. Thrace was subjected to the Romans. (This may be a copy error.))

60. Ptolemy Alexander ruled for ten years. Syria passed under the dominion of the Romans under the general Gabinus. Also the poet Lucretius was born, who later killed himself as a result of a lover’s madness.

61. Ptolemy, son of Cleopatra, ruled for eight years (May have ruled from 107-66 BC). At the same time Plotius Gallus was the first to teach Latin rhetoric in Rome. At that time also Sallust the historian was born.

62. Ptolemy Dionysius ruled for thirty years (117-51 BC). Pompey, having captured Jerusalem, made the Jews tributaries to the Romans. At the same time the philosopher Cato excelled. Virgil was born in Mantua, Horace in Venusia. At that time also Apollodorus, preceptor of the emperor, was regarded as illustrious and Cicero was celebrated with praise for his oratory.

63. Cleopatra ruled for two years. She was the daughter of Ptolemy (XI), king of the Egyptians, and sister and wife of her brother Ptolemy (XIII). Desiring to defraud him of the kingdom, in a time of civil war in Alexandria, she went to Caesar, who was besieging the city, and, using pretense and debasing herself, she begged, in the presence of Julius, for the death of Ptolemy and to have the kingdom for herself. The kingdom of Alexandria, in the third year of the reign of Cleopatra, passed under the dominion of the Romans under Julius Caesar.

64. Gaius Julius Caesar ruled for five years (Beginning in 47 BC). Before he was made consul, he conquered Gaul and triumphed in Britain. And after having waged a war against Pompey, he obtained the monarchy of the entire empire. The succeeding emperors were called “Caesars” after his name.

65. From the migration to Babylonia up to the nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ: 587 years. The fifth age came to an end in the year 5,155.

66. Octavian Augustus ruled for fifty-six years (14-37 AD). He, in his imperium, after the Sicilian war, had three triumphs: Dalmatia, Asia, and later Alexandria against Anthony. From there, Spain. At that point, having brought peace on land and sea to the entire world, he closedthe gates of Janus. (By that time, Jesus had been been Crucified and Ascended into Heaven. Fitting that the “gates of Janus” were closed). Under his imperium, the writings of Daniel (The Book of Daniel detailed Messianic Prophecies in The Old Testament. As a result, many Jewish and Protestant believers removed The Septuagint from Biblical consideration. St. Jerome used them when compiling The Vulgate at the request of Pope Damasus.) were completed in seventy weeks and, as the kingdom and priesthood of the Jews was coming to an end, the Lord Jesus Christ was born from a virgin in Bethlehem of Judah in the forty-second year of Octavian’s (Augustus was also known as “Octavian”) rule.

67. Tiberus, the son of the Augustus, ruled for twenty-two years (14-37 AD). He, out of cupidity, did not let the kings coming to him return, and many peoples receded from the Roman empire. The Lord was crucified in the eighteenth year of his reign, 5,229 years having elapsed since the beginning of the world.

68. Caius Caligula ruled for four years (37-41 AD). He was fierce with avarice, cruelty, and lust and, elevating himself to the level of the gods, he ordered a statue of Olympian Jove to be placed under his name in the Temple of Jerusalem. At the same time, in Judea, the apostle Matthew was the first to write a gospel.

69. Claudius ruled for fourteen years (41-54 AD). With him ruling, the apostle Peter went to Rome against Simon Magus. Also Mark the Evangelist, preaching Christ in Alexandria, wrote his gospel. (In 139 BC, Jewish people had been expelled from Rome.  That happened again under Tiberius in 19 AD.  Around 51-52 BC, Claudius expelled thousands of Jewish families from Rome for arguing about “Chrestus”.  Many ended up in Spain and Greece.  St. Paul met Aquila and Priscilla in Corinth after ther exile from Rome.)

70. Nero ruled for fourteen years (10/13/54 to 6/9/68 AD). Given to injury, cruelty, and lust, he even fished with nets of gold. He prostituted and killed his mother and sister, wiped out much of the senate, lost many cities and provinces of the republic, and also burned down the city of Rome so that he might witness an image of the destruction of Troy. In his times, Simon Magus was reported to have had an altercation with the apostles Peter and Paul. Claiming that a certain great power that he had came from God, he proposed at midday to fly to the Father in heaven with the help of demons, by whom he was to be born aloft. But, with Peter swearing at the demons and Paul praying, Simon was cast down and he crashed. Because of Simon’s death, Peter was crucified by Nero and Paul was killed with a sword. In this same storm, a Persian poet died. In addition, Lucan and Seneca were killed by order of Nero.

71. Vespasian ruled for ten years (69-79 AD). Vigorous in military discipline, through his fighting he restored to the republic many provinces which Nero had lost. He was unmindful of offenses and he bore lightly the insults said against him. In his second year Titus took and overthrew Jerusalem, where 1,100,000 Jews perished by famine and the sword. Beyond these, another 100,000 were publicly sold into slavery.

72. Titus ruled for eleven years (actually, from 79-81 AD). He was so eloquent in both languages that he could prepare legal cases in Latin and compose poems and tragedies in Greek. He was, however, so bellicose that in the assault on Jerusalem, fighting under his father, he pierced twelve soldiers with twelve arrows. But he was of such magnanimity in the exercise of his imperial rule, that he punished no one at all, but dismissed those convicted of conspiring against him and maintained the same familiarity with them which he had had before. Among all of his sayings, the most famous was: “The day is lost in which nothing good is accomplished.”

73. Domitian, brother of Titus, ruled for sixteen years (81-96 AD). He was the second after Nero who, cursed with pride, commanded that he be considered a god and ordered the Christians to be persecuted by the pagans. Under him, the apostle John was banished to the island of Patmos, where he wrote the Apocalypse. (Domitian) killed and sent many of the senators into exile, and he ordered (something often over-looked!) everyone from the line of David to be killed so that none of the Jews from the royal line would survive. (He got the time wrong! Herod at least got it right.)

74. Nerva ruled for one year (97 AD). A moderate man in his imperium, he presented himself as equal to, and approachable by, everyone. In his time, John the Apostle returned from exile to Ephesus and, entreated by the bishops of Asia, became the most recent to edit a new gospel.

75. Trajan ruled for nineteen years (98-117 AD). He extended the empire of the Romans with wondrous power far and wide to the east. Tranquil and liberal in all things, he took Babylonia and Arabia and reached all the way to the territory of India, like Alexander. Among all of the things he said, the most extraordinary is reported to have been his response when asked why he was so approachable by everyone around him: (to wit), that he would rather deprive himself of being emperor than be a private emperor.  (Many find that Donald Trump, President of The United States, reminds them of Trajan.)  Simon Cleophas, bishop of Jerusalem, was crucified at this time and John the Apostle passed away.

76. Hadrian ruled for twenty-one years (117-138 AD). Envying the glory of Trajan, he surrendered the provinces of the east to the Persians and established the boundary of the Roman empire at the river Euphrates. He also subjugated the Jews who, for a second time, had become rebels, and he restored the city of Jerusalem and called it by his own name, Aelia. (Nearly 600,000 Jewish men were killed in this Revolt and probably that many women and children.  A half million more had been killed in the preceding Second Jewish-Roman War (115-117 AD) that wiped out Jewish people from Cyprus and Cyrene.) At the same time, Aquila Ponticus, the second translator after the Septuagint, arose. And Basilides (An early Profiteer of Protestantism whose followers would be known as “Gnostics”.) was acknowledged to be a heresiarch.

77. Antoninus Pius ruled for twenty-two years (9/19/131-3/7/161 AD). He received this cognomen on account of his clemency, because throughout the entire Roman kingdom he relaxed the debts of everyone, burning the notes. (Very unusual in History for a leader to save his people from money-lenders, all of whom who know this despise his memory.) For which reason he is also called the “Father of the Country.” He was the first to divide the imperium of the Roman world, which he did with Antoninus the Younger, making him equal in power. With Antoninus Pius ruling, Valentius and Marcion were shown to be heresiarchs (Early Protestants against The Primacy of Peter given to him by The Church-Creating Word of Jesus to His First Catholic Pope: “And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”) and the doctor Galen, born in Pergamum, was regarded as illustrious in Rome.

78. Antoninus Minor (86-161 AD, the fourth of five “Good Emperors”) ruled for eighteen years. Having advanced to Parthia, he took Seleucia, the city of Assyria, with 400,000 men. He triumphed over the Parthians and the Persians. With him ruling, Montanus, the author of the Cataphrygites and Tatian, from whom came the heresy of the Encratitarites, appeared.

79. Commodus (177-192 AD) ruled for thirteen years. He was a man of great lust. Under his imperial rule, Theodotian of Ephesus, the third translator, appeared. And Irenaeus, Bishop of Lyons, was regarded as illustrious in his teaching.

80. Aelius Pertinax ruled for one year. With the senate entreating him to make his wife “Augustus” and his son “Caesar,” he refused, saying that he ought to be replaced because he ruled unwillingly. (This, like Antoninus Pius cancelling the debts owed to moneylenders, is Very Unusual in History!)

81. Severus Pertinax ruled for eighteen years (193-211 AD). He successfully waged many wars. He conquered Parthia, acquired Arabia, and took Britain by force. He had a knowledge of literature and philosophy. In his time Symmachus, the fourth translator, was acknowledged. Narcissus, bishop of Jerusalem, was celebrated with many virtues. Tertullian of Africa was regarded as illustrious in the church. Origen of Alexandria was erudite in his studies.

82. Antoninus Caracalla (44/4/188-4/8/217), the son of Severus, ruled for seven years. He was impatient in his desires. He took his stepmother as his wife. He did nothing memorable. In his time, in Jericho, a fifth edition of the holy scriptures was found, the author of which was not known.

83. Macrinus ruled for one year. Ruling with his own son, he undertook nothing memorable during his brief time as emperor. For after only one year, both were killed as a result of a military uprising.

84. Aurelius Antoninus ruled for four years. He lived most obscenely and was himself killed by a military revolt. In his time, a sixth edition was found in Nicopolis. The heresiarch Sabellius appeared.

85. Alexander ruled for thirteen years (222-235 AD). He most gloriously conquered the Persians. He was favorable to the citizens. In his time, Origen of Alexandria excelled and in Rome, the legal expert Ulpian was illustrious.

86. Maximinus ruled for three years (235-238 AD). He was the first to be made emperor by the body of the military without a senate decree. He persecuted Christians.

87. Gordian ruled for six years. (Date seems to be an error. He actually ruled for 3 weeks preceding April, 238.) He afflicted the rebelling Parthians and Persians. Returning victorious from Persia, he died as a result of the treachery of his own men. In his time, Zephyrinus, with the witness of the holy spirit descending in the form of a dove over his head, was ordained bishop of Rome.

88. Philip ruled for seven years (244-249 AD). He was the first among the emperors to believe in Christ. In his first year, the one thousandth year of the city of Rome was reported to have passed.89. Decius ruled for one year (Actually, 249-251 AD). In his time, St. Anthony the monk, by whom monasteries were first founded, is reported to have appeared. (This was a big change. Suddenly, men and women with the highest goal of growing closer to Christ began to have places to do so.)

90. Gallus and his son Volusianus ruled for two years. Novatus, a priest under bishop Cyprian, came to Rome and founded the Novatian hersesy.

91. Valerian, with Gallienus, ruled for fifteen years (253-280 AD), Cyprian, first rhetor and them bishop, was crowned with martyrdom. Also the Goths depopulated Greece, Macedonia, and Pontus in Asia. Valerian, orchestrating a persecution of the Christians, was captured by Sapor, king of the Persians, and there he grew old with the disgrace of his life. (Valerian was the first Roman Emperor to be captured in battle, a fitting end for having attacked The Church.)

92. Claudius ruled for two years (Seems to be something out of place from ages before computer validation and hand-made copies in scriptoria that were not well-illuminated.) He conquered and devastated the Goths (in) Illyricum and Macedonia. Paul of Samostenus was acknowledged to be a heresiarch. (“Heresiarchs” are inventors of a “heresy” Many, like Paul of Samosata, became very wealthy, had women living with him in his residence in a city along the Euphrates in what is now Turkey. By a miracle, he was thrown out of office by “civil authorities for illegally occupying Church property” . Another Miracle!)

93. Aurelian ruled for six years (270-275 AD). He extended the empire of the Romans by force almost to its previous boundaries. Carrying out the persecution against the Christians, he was seized with a sudden calamity and died without delay. (Again, an appropriate end, and without a final wish for forgiveness, an eternal one.)

94. Tacitus ruled for one year (275-276 AD). His brief life left no deed worthy of record.

95. Probus ruled for six years (276-282 AD). Vigorous in war and illustrious in civilian life, he restored to the Romans, by force, Gaul, which had been occupied by the barbarians. In his time the heresy of the Manicheans arose. (5,481)

96. Carus ruled with his sons Carinus and Numerianus for two years (282-283 AD). Carus, after he triumphed over the Persians and, victorious, placed fortifications along the Tigris, was killed by a stroke of misfortune. (It is suggested that he was killed by a bolt of lightning.)

97. Diocletian and Maximian ruled for twenty years (284-305 AD). Diocletian, having burned holy books, persecuted Christians throughout the world. He was the first to order gems put on clothes and shoes. At that time princes were to wear only purple on their backs. These emperors waged various wars and, having conquered Persia, took Mesopotamia. After awhile, when both had left the rank of emperor, they lived as private citizens. (Diocletian was manipulated into becoming so anti-Catholic that he launched one of the greatest persecutions of Catholics in 303.)

98. Galerius ruled for two years (Or, from 305 to 311 AD). His brief imperium saw nothing worthy of historical record. (He did launch the last edicts of anti-Catholic persecution in 303until 311. When he was near death with a painful and final illness, he did have enough sense to ask Catholics to pray for him.)

99. Constantine ruled for thirty years. He prepared for war with the Persians and they feared his arrival, so that supplicants came forth promising to carry out his orders. He also became a Christian, giving permission to Christians to congregate freely, and built basilicas in honor of Christ. In these times, the Arian heresy appeared. Also the Nicene Council was convoked by Constantine for the condemnation of Arius. Also at that time the schism of the Donatists arose. (During his reign, Constantine generously funded Donatists in North Africa. They were too self-righteous to allow Catholics forced into apostasy by torture and punishment to seek forgiveness and absolution from Catholic priests and return to The Church. Constantine may have supported Donatists to “divide and conquer” to keep a unified Catholic Church in North Africa, some of the richest Provinces of The Roman Empire, from becoming too strong politically. Every parish and diocese had both Catholic and state-funded Arian priests and bishops Fighting among each other, much like groups of Jewish people in Jerusalem surrounded by Legions of Vespasian and Titus, paved the way for their destruction, the same way successful Vandal invasions from Spain defeated another people too divided by political interests to defend themselves. Soon, Muslim invaders, heading West from Egypt, destroyed both the permanently weakened Catholics and Protestant Arians who remained. Seldom has the cost of Protestantism been so high for so long.) At the same time the cross of Christ was discovered in Jerusalem by Helen, the mother of Constantine. But Constantine, Baptized by Bishop Eusebius of Nicomedia at the very end of his life, was converted to the Arian dogma. O the pain! Such a good beginning, such a bad end. (The last two, short sentences describe the permanent consequences of Willful Protestantism so brilliantly that it makes all of St. Isidore worth reading and why many of us are blessed to see him as “The Holy Brain of Spain”.)

100. Constantius and Constans ruled for twenty-four years. Constantius, terrible in the cruelty of his ways, endured many things from the Persians. From that time on he became an Arian and persecuted Catholics all over the world. Relying on his favor, Arius proceeded to the church in Constantinople, about to fight against those of our faith. Diverted through the forum of Constantine for the sake of some necessity, suddenly his viscera and his life simultaneously poured out. At the same time, Athanasius and Hilary were celebrated, anthropomorphism (Like those with excessive love for pets today, they were distracted by comparing traits of animals to those of people.) arose in Syria, Macedonia, and Constantinople. Donatus, an author of the art of grammar and instructor of Jerome, was regarded as illustrious in Rome. Anthony the monk died. The bones of the apostles Andrew and Luke were translated to Constantinople. (The Holy Remains of St. Luke are now in Padua. Those of St. Andrew are in Patras, Greece.)

101. Julian ruled for two years (355-360 AD) in the west (and) of all Rome from (361-363 AD). He went from being a cleric to being an emperor and a pagan. He was converted to the cult of the idols and instituted martyrdom for the Christians. He forbade Christians to teach or learn the liberal arts. At that time he also, out of his hatred for Christ, permitted the Jews to repair the Temple of Jerusalem. Jews gathered from all the provinces and laid new foundations for the Temple. Suddenly at night an earthquake struck(This may be the earthquake described by Martine Henry occurring before 26 June, 363 in which “Palestine was laid in ruins” .) and the stones from the deepest parts of the foundation were shaken and scattered far and wide. In addition a fiery ball came out from the interior of the building of the Temple and prostrated many with its fire. Those remaining were frightened by this terror and involuntarily confessed Christ. And lest they thought it was over with this destruction, the sign of the cross appeared the following night on everyone’s clothing. Julian, proceeding against the Persians, died, having been hit with a javelin as the attack was being launched. (Again, an Emperor and people were punished by The Wrath of God. May we all be spared from that!)

102. Jovian ruled for one year (June, 363 to February, 364). When he realized that he was being chosen emperor by the army, he confirmed that he was a Christian and decided that it was no longer permissible for pagans to hold office. “And we,” he said to all of the army, “who through Julianus rejected the name of Christ, wish to be Christians again.” He then received the sceptre of the imperium from those who had heard him and returned after having made peace with the Persians. He gave the privileges back to the Christians with a law granted in perpetuity and ordered the temples of the idols closed.

103. Valentinian (364-375 AD) chose his brother, Valens, to rule the Eastern Empire) and his brother Valens (364-378) ruled The Eastern Roman Empire for fourteen years. The Goths, in Istrus, were divided into two kingdoms under kings Fridigern and Athalaric. But Fridigern overcame Athalaric with the help of Valens, the Arian emperor, having been persuaded, in exchange for the aid, to convert from being a Catholic to being an Arian along with all of the people of the Goths, thus following Valens’ error. (This was one of the greatest sins in History. That conversion to Arianism has hurt the world for 1,600 years. We may wonder who or what group was responsible for getting Valens to leave The Catholic Church and bring its worst enemies on earth into being and hurt the world for centuries.) Also at that time Ulfilas, bishop of the Goths, invented letters for the Goths like the letters of the Greeks and then translated both (the New and Old) Testaments into their own tongue. Also Photinus, Eunomius, and Apollonaris were acknowledged to be heresiarchs (More heresies adding to the Arian confusion!) at this same time.

104. Gratian with his brother Valentinian ruled for six years (18 April, 359-25 August, 383). Ambrose, bishop of Milan (374 AD-397 AD), excelled in the dogma of the Catholics. Priscillian introduced into Spain the evil heresy bearing his name. (Priscillianism included the denial of God’s Creation and was, according to St. Jerome, based on Zoraster.) Martin, bishop of Tours, the city of Gaul, was resplendent with the signs of many miracles.

105. Valentinian ruled with Theodosius for eight years. (The Valentinian Dynasty, shared by Theodosius, ruled from 360-455 AD) The Synod of Constantinople, with one hundred fifty holy fathers, at which all heresies were condemned, was convoked by Theodosius. The priest Jerome in Bethlehem was regarded as illustrious throughout the world. Priscillian, being accused by Itacius, was killed with the sword by the tyrant Maximus. At the same time the head of John the Baptist was taken to Constantinople and buried at the seventh milestone (septimo milliario) of the city. And in the same time the temples of the gentiles all over the world were torn down by order of Theodosius, for until then they had remained untouched.106. Theodosius, with Arcadius and Honorius, ruled for three years. At the same time, John the Anchorite was regarded as noteworthy in the miracles of his virtues. Also, when consulted by Theodosius, he foretold his victory over the tyrant Eugenius.

107. Arcadius and his brother Honorius ruled for thirteen years. In his time, bishop Augustine was regarded as noteworthy in the knowledge of his teaching. Also John of Constantinople and Theophilus of Alexandria were proclaimed to be illustrious bishops. At the same time, Donatus, bishop of Epirus, was regarded as noteworthy in his miracles (virtutes). He killed, by spitting in its eye, an immense dragon, which even with eight yoke of oxen was scarcely able to be dragged to the place where it was to be burned so that it would not corrupt the air as it decomposed. (The “immense dragon” may symbolize all that was left of the pagan gods in Rome’s Empire.) At the same time, the bodies of the holy prophets Habucuc and Micah were found by divine revelation. The Goths plundered Italy. And the Vandals and Alans invaded Gaul.

108. Honorius, with Theodosius the Younger, the son of his brother, ruled for fifteen years. With these two governing, the Goths took Rome (410 AD) and the Vandals, Alans and Suevi seized Spain (409 AD. The Northern Tribes of Germans ended up winning over much of Spain, France, and Italy.). In this time Pelagius preached the dogma of his error against the grace of Christ (Pelagianism denied original sin and taught that human beings are born corrupted by Adam’s sin of willful disobedience to God.). A council of 214 of bishops was convoked in Carthage for his condemnation. In this time Cyril, bishop of Alexandria, was regarded as noteworthy.

109. Theodosius the younger, son of Arcadius, ruled for twenty-seven years. The Vandals crossed over from Spain into Africa (In 429 AD, 80,000 of them sailed to Spain and expanded their Empire Eastward to Carthage, taking Sicils, Sardinia, and Corsica.). There they subverted the Catholic faith with Arian impiety. At the same time Nestor, bishop of Constantinople, stirred up the error of his perfidy. The synod of Ephesus, convoked against him, condemned his impious dogma. In this same time, the devil in the guise of Moses appeared to the Jews in Crete and promised to lead them to the promised land over the sea without even getting their feet wet. After many had been killed, (Another group of Jewish people destroyed by the drive for power that had been dividing and hurting Jewish people since The Jewish Wars in Jerusalem, in 70AD.) those remaining, who survived, were converted immediately to the grace of Christ. (Being Catholic still lets some escape from those who love themselves more than God.)

110. Marcian ruled for six years (450-457 AD). The beginning of his imperial reign, the Council of Chalcedon was held, where Eutyches along with Dioscorus, the Alexandrian bishop, were condemned. In the sixth year of his imperium, Theodoric, king of the Goths (Goths did not seem to be as interested in making a living with hard work!), invaded Spain with a huge army.

111. Leo the older ruled with Leo the younger for sixteen years (457-474 AD). Alexandria and Egypt, despising the Synod of Chalcedon and languishing in the error of the heretic Dioscorus, barked with canine madness, filled with an unclean spirit. At the same time appeared the heresy of the Acephali, attacking the Council of Chalcedon. They are called Acephali, that is, “without a head,” because the one who first introduced this heresy is not known. Many to the east languish with the disease of this heresy.112. Also a certain Arian bishop by the name of Barbas is reported to have spoken against a rule of the faith while baptising (“Barbas baptises you in the name of the Father, through the Son, in the name of the Holy Spirit”) and immediately the water in the font which had been brought for baptism disappeared. Seeing this, the one who was to be baptised immediately rushed away to the Catholic faith and received the baptism of Christ according to the custom of the evangelic faith (Even pagans were blessed to see reason to “Be Catholic!”

114. Justin the older ruled for nine years (518-527). A love of the Synod of Chalcedon, he abandoned the heresy of the Acephali. In his time, after Trasemundus, Childeric, born of the captive daughter of the emperor Valentinian, received the kingdom among the Vandals. Though bound by an oath to Trasemundus that he would not show favor to the Catholics in the kingdom, before assuming power he ordered the bishops to be returned from exile and commanded that their own churches be restored to them (Childreric was blessed! So were his soon-to-be- Catholic peoples!).

115. Justinian ruled for thirty-nine years (527-565). Receiving the heresy of the Acephali, he compelled every bishop in his kingdom to condemn the three chapters of the Council of Chalcedon. In Alexandria, the Theodosian and Gaianan heresies appeared. In Spain the Roman “miles” was invaded by the tyrant Athanagild. The patricius Belisarius triumphed wonderfully over the Persians. From there he was sent by Justinian to Africa and destroyed the people of the Vandals. Also in Italy, Totila, king of the Ostrogoths, was overcome by Narses, the Roman patricius. At the same time, the body of St. Anthony the monk, discovered by divine revelation, was taken to Alexandria and buried in the church of St. John the Baptist. (Amazing Revelation: the discoveries of Catholic Saints are accorded as much importance as invasions.)

116. Justin the younger ruled for eleven years (565-578, Eastern Roman Empire). He destroyed those who had spoken out against the Synod of Chalcedon and ordered the effigy of the 150 fathers to be burned by the people in the time of sacrifice. The Armenians first received the faith of Christ at that time. The Gepids were extinguished by the Lombards (The Lombards were another German Tribe fighting with other Tribes. Lombards were soon to be Catholic!). At the same time Martin, bishop of Braga in Galicia, was regarded as illustrious in prudence and theteaching of the Catholic faith. The patricius Narses, after he had overcome King Totila of the Goths in Italy in the time of the Augustus Justinian, was frightened by the threats of the empress Sophia, wife of Justin, and so invited the Lombards from Pannonia and introduced them into Italy. At that time Leovigild (567-586), king of the Goths, brought back, under the power of his kingdom, certain regions of Spain that were rebelling against him.

117. Tiberius ruled for seven years. The Lombards, expelled by the Romans, entered Italy. The Goths were divided into two by Hermenegild (He converted to Catholicism and began the change of Spain from Arianism to Catholicism with his marriage to Ingudis, a Frankish Catholic Princess. Europe became Catholic because Arian Kings married good Catholic Women from Sweden (Harold Bluetooth) to Spain to the:), son of King Leovigild, and they were devastated with mutual slaughter.

118. Maurice ruled for twenty-one years (582-602). The Suevi, held by King Leovigild, were subjected by the Goths. The Goths were also converted to the Catholic faith, having been summoned by that most religious prince, Reccared (Ruling from 586-601, was helped to be Catholic by his wife, Baddo.). The Avars, fighting against the Romans, were defeated more by gold than by iron. Thrace was seized by the Huns. At this time, Leander (Like his brother, Isisore, who wrote this Historical Record, he was from A Great Catholic Family. Their sister, Florentina, was a Catholic abbess who directed 40 convents and a thousand Catholic sisters.) excelled in the teaching of the faith and the sciences for the conversion of the Gothic people in Spain.

119. Phocas ruled for eight years (963-969). Made emperor as the result of a military revolt, he killed the emperor Maurice and many of the nobles. In his time the Prasini and the Veneti waged civil war throughout the east and Egypt and prostrated themselves with mutual slaughter. In addition, very grave battles were fought against the republic of the Persians, in which the Romans were forcefully beaten and lost many provinces up to the Euphrates River as well as, they say, Jerusalem.

120. Heraclius (610-641) has completed five years of his imperial rule. At the beginning, the Slavs took Greece from the Romans; the Persians took Syria, Egypt, and many provinces. Also in Spain, Sisebut (612-621), king of the Goths, took certain cities from the same Roman “militia” and converted the Jews subject to his kingdom to the faith of Christ.

121. 5,814 years have passed from the beginning of the world to the present era 654 [616 AD], that is, to the fifth year of the imperium of Heraclius and the fourth of the most glorious prince Sisebut.

122. (Isidore ends his brilliant record with this profound truth in complete accord with Jesus:) The time remaining for the world cannot be ascertained by human investigation. Our Lord Jesus Christ forestalled every question about this matter when he said: “It is not for you to know times or the moment which the Father has fixed by his own authority.” And elsewhere: “But of that day,” he said, “and that hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but the Father only.”(Then, The Great Saint, “The Catholic Brain of Spain” gives us This Correct Guidance for each of us in our own life:) Each one, then, should think about his own passing, as Holy Scripture says: “In all works, be mindful of the most recent.” When, therefore, any one passes away, that moment is the end of his world.

 

Conclusion:

We see that St. Isidore teaches us to focus on important, History-Making events and align them around Biblical Truths.  When Spanish-Speaking People learned from his Historical Teachings, they focused on important facts better than anyone on earth.  That let them think intelligently enough to go from a tiny Kingdom in The North of Spain to ruling much of The World.

Why should we care?  Historical Advice from St. Isidore lets us guide our lives to the same personal and family success that The Catholic Brain of Spain gave to over a thousand years of Spanish-Speaking Catholics.

In this life and the next, the happiest and most successful people, like King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella, follow This Advice from St. Isidore: “Be as Catholic as you can.”

St. Isidore provided many reasons for two non-Catholic groups in Spain to “Be Catholic”. As a result of his brilliant reasoning, many among the Muslim and Jewish Faiths became Catholic. Spain was filled with non-Catholics. St. Isidore, one of the most brilliant Catholics, provided many reasons why all should strive to be Catholic. When I asked a Catholic Deacon about St. Isidore’s famous Book on explaining to Muslims and Jewish people about reasons to Be Catholic, it could not be found in English. “Hermit Dave” found and printed an English translation from a Monastery in Ukraine. The war was starting then, and it took some time for him to get the remaining parts of it translated and into Book Form.

The translation begins with Chapter 2, verse 2.

“ . . . and the hinges of the earth. When He was preparing the Heavens, I (Jesus, The Son, Second Person of The Holy Trinity) was present; when He surrounded the abyss by a certain law, when He weighed the foundations of the earth, I was with Him in everything.”

3. Therefore, by such Authority, it is declared that before all ages The Son was begotten of The Father: when all things are known to have been created by The Father through Him. It is asked again, how can the same begotten, while the secret of His sacred birth neither the Apostle says, nlor the prophet knew, nor how the angel knew, nor the creature knew, witnessing Isaiah who sayd “Who told this generation (Is 53:8). Therefore, if His birth could not be told by the Prophet, who will confess that he knows, how could the Son be begotten by The Father?

4. Hence it is that in the Book of Job (28:20, “Where will you find the Wisdom of God the Father?” for it is “hidden from the eyes of men and from the birds of the sky, that is, even to the angels themselves.” Also there, “To whom was the root of Wisdom revealed? The origin, of course, of the sons of God. Therefore, what is even beyond the intelligence and knowledge of angels, who can tell of men?”

5. “Now it is manifest to know only The Father how He begot The Son, and The Son how He was begotten by The Father. If, indeed, the reason for the begetting of The Son is sought on the ground that a son is only born of two, I say that the transitory condition of mortals hs for Him the birth of such a species. For Christ shone forth from The Father as brightness from the light, as a word from the mouth, as wisdom from the heart.” Chapter III Because Christ is God and Lord,

1. After the mystery of Christ’s divine birth has been made clear, we will show that God and Lord are the same, using examples from the Sacred Scriptures.”

1. If Christ is not God, to whom is it said in the Psalm 44:7, ‘Your seat, O God, forever and ever, the rod of equity, the rod of Your Kingdom; You loved justice and hated iniquity, therefore God, God anointed you yours with the oil of righteousness before Your consorts: “then who is This God anointed by God? Let them answer us: Behold, God s said to be anointed by God, and indeed, Christ Himself is shown by anointing, when God is anointed insinuated. For while you hear God anointed, understand Christ. Christ, for by chrism, that is, to be called by anointing is insinuated. For while you hear God anointed, understand Christ. Christ, for by Chrism, that is called by anointing. This Christ, under the person of Cyrus, is testified by Isaiah to be thus the father, god, and lord saying in Isaiah

45:1 ‘This is what the Lord says to by Christ, Cyrus whose right hand I have seized.

2. To subdue the nations before his fac and turn the backs of kinds, and I will open before him the doors and the gates will not be shut. I will go before you and humble the gloriousness of the earth. I will break the bronze gates and the bars of iron I will break and give you hidden treasures and secret secrets, so that you may know that I am The Lord, who calls your name, Th God of Israel.”

3. 4. For Christ was prophesied in the person of Cyrus, where nations and kingdoms were subdued in faith to him. Moreover, because no one in the Kingdom of Israel was named Cyrus, that if anyone believed this prophesied about Cyrus, the King of the Persians, he would know that it was absurd and profane, that he was a wicked man and given to idolatry. “This is what The Lord says to Christ My Lord, which is specifically taken in the Person of Christ our Lord. If Christ is not a God, let them (the Jews) tell us who is the god in Genesis 1:26, when He said: “Let us make men in our image and likeness.” God created man in the image and likeness of God He created Him.” God created man in the image and likeness of God He created him. They then asked if who God created or in the image of which God created man whom He created.

5. But if they answer to the angels, does an angel have an image equal to that of God? Or, could an angel with God make a man? It is a great madness to think so! To whom, then, is it said, or to whom is the one image with God, and the only name of The Divinity?

6. Likewise, if Christ is not the Lord, what Lord rains fire on Sodom from the Lord? For thus He says in Genesis 19:24: “And the Lord rained upon Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from The Lord.” In which sentence no one doubts that it is the second person, for who is that lord, but beyond all doubt the Son from the Father, who is always accustomed to descend and ascend, sent by The Same Father? By which testimony both the deity and the distinction of the persons of the Father and The Son are more clearly shown.”

7. Likewise, if Christ is not Lord, who is that Lord of Hosts , of which David says in Psalm 109:2 “The Lord said to my Lord, sit at My right hand.” Who, while the same Christ according to the flesh is the son of David yet in the spirit He is his Lord and God. If Christ is not Lord, of whom David says in 2 Kings 24:1, “the man to whom it was appointed concerning The Christ of The God of Jacob, the excellent Psalmist of Israel, the Sprit of The Lord spoke through me and Hs word through my tongue.” who is sent by The Lord of Hosts by saying in Zechariah 2:8 “This is what The Lord God of Hosts says after glory He has sent me to the nations that have plundered you: he will touch the pupil of his eye, for behyone I will lift my hand upon them, and thy will become a prey to those who served Him, and you will know that The Lord of Hosts has sent Me.”

8. Again, if Christ is not Lord, who is that Lord of Hosts who is sent by The Lord of Hosts by Himself, saying in Zechariah 2:8: “This is what The Lord God of Hosts says after glory he has sent me to the nations that have plundered you: He will touch the pupil of His eye, for behold I will lift My hand upon them and they will become a prey to those who served him, and you will know The Lord of Hosts has sent me.”

9. Now, whose voice is this but that of The Savior, Who testifies that He is sent by The Almighty God from The Almighty Father? But, He was sent to the nations after the glory of the Dity which He had with His Father: when He emptied Himself and took the form of a servant, the result was obedience until death, and he speaks in the following in Zech 2:11, P{“Praise and rejoice daughter of Zion, for behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst” says the Lord And many nations will apply to The Lord in that day and they will e My people and I will dwell in our midst and you will know that The Lord of Hosts has sent Me to you.

10. “Who then is This Lord sent by The Lord of Hosts but the same Lord, Jesus Christ? IT remains of The Holy Spirt, of Whose Divinity says thus and because He is the sprit of God (Kob 33:4, “The Spirit of The Lord made me, and the breath of the Almighty quickened me;, Behold God made me as you also.” For He had said “Th Spirit of The Lord made me.” Wile he added again, “Bhold, God made me as you also,” to show that the same Spirit is God.”

Chapter 4: of the significance of The Holy Trinity

1. “It is clear from the Old Testament that The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit are God. But this is why these do not think that The Son and Holy Spirit are God because they heard the voice of God thundering on Mt. Sinai (Deut 6:4): “Hear Israel, The Lord your God s One God.” That God The Father and The Son and The Holy Spirit are not three gods, but one name of individual majesty in Three Persons.

2. Let us therefore look for the same Trinity in the writings of the Old Testament, for in the First Book of Kings it is thus written: 23:1 “David the son of Jesse said, said the man to whom it was appointed the Christ of The God of Jacob, the excellent psalmist of Israel: “the spirit of The Lord spoke through me and His Word through my tongue.” But who was added: “The God of Israel He spoke to me, the mighty ruler of Israel the just man.”

3. For in saying “Christ”, he shows Jacob the son and father or God. Also saying “The spirit of The Lord spoke through me, he clearly 9opened the Holy Spirit. The same also in the Psalms 32:6: “By the word of the Lord of Heaven are they established, and by the spirit of His mouth is all their power.:” For in the person of the Lord we receive Th Father, in the word of The Son we believe, and in the Spirit of His Mouth is all their power.” For in the person of The Lord we receive The Father, in the Word of The Son we believe, and in The Spirit of His mouth we understand The Holy Trinity, by which the number and communion of cooperation of The Trinity is shown.

4. Thus, in the consequences the prophet says the same in Psalm 1467:18, “He will send His Word and melt it; His spirit will blow and the waters will flow. Here are three: The Father Who sends and The Word Who is sent and His Spirit that blows.” For and when it is said in Genesis 1:12, “In thebeginning God made Heaven and earth and the spirit of the Lord moved upon the waters.” There in the word of God the Father is understood, in the beginning the Son is recognized Who says in Psalm 39:8-9) “In the beginning of the Book it is written abut Me that I may do Your will.” Who sad God and who did God; but in Him who was carried on the waters, the Holy Spirit is signified.

5. For even when God says there: “Let us make man in our image and likeness, through the plurality of persons is a manifest signification of the Trinity, where, however, in order to show the unity of the Deity, He immediately reminds us, saying: “God make man in His own image, and when the same God sad, “Behold, Adam became as one of us, the very plurality of the persons of the Trinity shows the mystery.

6. Whose Sacrament of The Trinity and Haggai (Agg 2:6,87) the prophet thus opened from the Person of The Lord, saying “My spirit will be in your midst.” Bhold the God Who speaks, behold His Spirt; after this in the third person, that is of the Son He submitted thus: “For behold, I will shake the heavens and the earth and will come to be desired by all nations.”

7. In Isaiah, too, under his own person, the distinction of each of The Trinity, saying thus to the same Son it is shown in Isaiah 28: 12, 13, 16) “I am the first and I am the last, my hand also founded the earth and my right hand is the table of the heavens.” For in the beginning I spoke in secret from the time before it was done, I was there.” And consequently He added: “And now The Lord God has sent me and His Spirit.” Behold, there are two persons, The Lord and His Spirit who send, and a third Person of the same Lord Who is sent.

8.Also elsewhere, by the same prophet, the significance of The Trinty is turs demonstrated (Es 42:1) “Behold My Child, I will receive Him, my beloved; my soul is pleased with Him; I have given My spirit upon Him. (Is 50:12 “The Spirit of The Lord is upon Me.”

9. Also in another place, the same Isaiah, comprehending the whole Trinity in the number of fingers, preaches thus, saying “Who has measured the waters with the fist and who has weighed the heavens with the palm of his hand? Who can weigh the mass of the earth with three fingers?” Indeed, in three fingers The Prophet balanced the Triune Equity of the Divine Omnipotence under a kind of mystery, and by the parity of power He declared the cooperation of power and the unity of substance (which is one and the same in the Trinty) in three fingers.

10. The same Prophet testifies that he knew the Mystery of The Trinity in another way by saying in Is. 6:1, “I saw The Lord sitting on a high throne. Seraphim were standing on it, six wings on one and six wings on the other, two covered his face and two covered His feet and two flew “ as they would point to The Divinity and say “Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord, God of Hosts and the whole earth is full of His glory.”

11. Behold, The Threefold sanctification under a single confession of the Heavenly hosts: They proclaim the One Glory of The Trinity by The Seraphim with three repetitions. For what does the Saint indicate three times unless The Glory of the same Triune Omnipotence has been shown, the signification of Three Persons in The (One) Deity? But, not as three persons are to be believed, so also three gods are to be believed, but in those Three Persons One Divinity is to be preached, according to the opinion of Moses who said: “Hear, O Israel, The Lord, your God, is One God.” And, again, “I am The Lord and there is no other beside Me.”

Chapter 5: Because Christ, The Son of God, became man.

1.Thus far we have shown the mystery of the Heavenly birth in Christ and the significance of the Divine Trinity; Henceforth, by the authority of Scripture, let us show the same Son of God was born in the flesh, showing first that the same Son of God was incarnated and became man for our Salvation. For this is what Isaiah (9:6) teaches about Him: “A little child was born to us, a son was given to us and His government was placed on His shoulder and His Name shall be called ‘wonderful’ , ‘counselor’, ‘strong’ , ‘father of the future’, ‘prince of peace’; His Dominion will be multiplied and His peace will not end.”

2. For Christ is a child, because He is a man, and was born for us, not for Himself; for He became a man, He made progress for us. But The Son has been given to us, of whom but The Son of God? His Principality upon His shoulder because He carried the cross on His own shoulders or because Pilate wrote the title of The Kingdom over His shoulders and head.

3. Let the wicked therefore be ashamed and acknowledge that Christ is called The Son of God whether born or by assumption. The Body became small. Of which David says in Psalm 8:6, “You made Him a little less than a God.” Because while He was in the form of a god, He did not think of robbery, that He was equal to God, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant. To whom, while The Father in the Psalms 3 of that eternal birth He would say, “From the womb I begot thee before Lucifer.”, again showing His future birth in the flesh, He submitted, saying “And as it were from the womb th dew of thy youth shall arise unto thee.”

4. This incorporation of The Son of God and The Holy Spirit was thus announced in the Psalms (86:5) “But to Sion a man says and a man was born in it and He founded it on high.” It follows, “The Lord numbered the peoples when He wrote “this one was born there”. Who is this noble man and Lord? Man because He became man, exalted because the Heavens and the angels receive Him above them, Lord because all the creatures of Heaven and earth serve Him.

5. But, every time the enemies of Christ hear all this Prophecy of His birth, they conclude until thy have nothing to propose, they argue, saying that The Christ about Whom all these Prophecies were sung by the mouth of the prophets had not yet come. Let us therefore inquire as to the time of Christ’s Birth, whether He has already arrived or is still expected to come. In Daniel, then, the time of His coming is most certainly shown and the years a numbered, and His clear signs are pronounced, and after His coming, and after His death, the future extermination of the Jews is mores definitely make manifest there.

6. For thus said the angel to him (Daniel 9:23) “Daniel pay attention to the message and understand the vision of the seventy weeks.” Shortened upon your people and upon your holy city, so that transgression may be consumed and sin may end and iniquity may be destroyed and everlasting justice may be brought and the vision and prophecies may be fulfilled and anointed; the holy of holies.”

7. For the weeks are terminated in sever years in the words of the sage as The Lord said to Moses 25:8 “You shall count for yourself seven weeks of years, which is seven times seven, which together make 40 and 9 years.” Therefore, from the time of the prophet Danel until the present time, more than 140 weeks are counted prophetic.

8. For after the 70 weeks and the birth and the suffering it is shown that Christ and the city ofr Jerusalem were in extermination and the sacrifice and the anointing had ceased, for thus the same prophet submitted “And Christ will be killed and the city and the sacrifice will be destroyed by the people with the coming leader and its end. Desolation and after the end of the war, Titus therefore came after Christ’s passion and defeated the Jews and destroyed the city and the temple and they stopped the libations and sacrifices which they could not celebrate there, so that what had been foretold by the prophet might be fulfilled.

9. But the hardness of the hearts of the Jews, because they themselves have repeated Christ, they do not believe that He has yet come. We have proved that our Lord Jesus Christ was already born according to the flesh. But adds the unbelieving car (unbelibvers can?) comes in a dog? Then hear the case. When the tooth (truth?) had made man endowed with the highest happiness and honored with the beauty of the divine image, He placed him in paradise to be subject to God and superior to the rest of creatures.

10. But he despised the effect of the rebel. He violated the commandment forbidden by The Divinity. God did not kill him, who God had rejected because of his pride, but made him an exile in paradise, waiting to be restored to forgiveness through repentance. And when he was not recalled to the way of virtue, he gave the law through Moses, so that even through it he might return to the love of God and the operations of justice. But when he did not even keep this obstinate and unbelieving, the Son of God finally came and assumed a human body so that as long as He could be seen He would be believed, and He would be reconciled to the grace of the founder, having abandoned the worldly images of demons.

11. This is the cause of the birth of Christ, whom, though the Jews suffered to be born, yt they offended Him when He was crucified and died, not understanding that just as it was necessary for Him to be born for the redemption of the world, so he had to suffer. Whose passion and death we shall confirm in its proper place by the evidence of the Scriptures. But now let us follow the proper order, and of which it has been pointed out. After the glory of th deity’s human birth, both race and country are shown.

Chapter 6 They begin to speak first of His Name.

1.For the first appellation of the name Jesus is found in the figure of our Lord Jesus Christ before predicted for a certain “Auses” , who was called “naue fillius, was surnamed by Moses Jesus. For after this, after the death of the leader Moses, obtained the principality and distributed the third part of the promised inheritance. What did the change of name signify except that after the death of Moses, that is, the death of the law and legal precepts, the Lord Jesus Christ was destined to be our leader, Who would bring us to the earth, having flowed through the Jordan, that is, sanctified by the grace of baptism and expelled from all kinds of vices, or escaped from the enemies of the evil angels flowing with the honey and milk of promise, that is, the possession of eternal life, than which nothing is sweeter.

2.For that reason he received the image of this sacrament so that he was named Jesus to signify that tur Jesus, about Whom it is written in Psalm 94 “Come let us praise The Lord, let us rejoice inJesus our rock.” Where it is shown that Jesus is The Lord of whom and elsewhere in the Psalms 149# “The Lord delights in His people and will exalt the meek in Jesus.” for these things are considered thus in the Hebrew.

Chapter 7 and that The Lord Jesus Christ was to come from the seed of Abraham

1.Genesis shows that Abraham said to his child (Gen 24:2) “Put your hand under my thigh, and theoath by the God of Heaven. The promise to the Lord, (Ben 22:18, Is 51:2) “In thy seed shall all nations be blessed, that is, n Christ.” Of which the Psalmist says (71:17 “And all the tribes of the earth shall be blessed in Him, all nations shall magnify Him.

2. The voice of the Lord speaks of this seed ant through the same Isaiah 65:9 He says, “I will bring up the seed of Jacob and of Judah possessing My mountain, of which the same prophet elsewhere (1:9, says “unless the Lord had left us His seed.”

Chapter 8 And because Christ was to be expected from the tribe of Judah according to the flesh.

1.Jacob signifies the patriarch saying (Gen 49:10) “There shall not fail a prince from Judah, nor a leader from His loins, until He comes Who is to be sent, and He shall be the expectation of the nations.” His until Herodien, another king, who through ambition had usurped the power of The Kingdom.

2.For as soon as this was done, and the leader of the seed of Judah failed, He arrived Who was to be sent, whom the nations and peoples are waiting for. But the Jews say that the obstinacy of the immortal front is not yet. When the time was over, they lied that I do not know which king of the Tribe of Judah would hold the kingdom in the extreme parts of the East.

3. Nor do they pay attention to the mental pretense of pretense (Brilliant) I will discover his lie because now as no temple, no altar, no sacrifice, so no kin, no priest remained for the Jews, for he cannot be a liar.” (Dozens of Scripture Passages tell us this!) “The children of Israel will sit without a king, without a sacrifice, without an altar, without a priesthood, without manifestations.” Who does not see that all these things are now completed for them?

Chapter 9: Because Christ was born of the seed of David.

1.Behold, we are taught from which Tribe Christ was to be born. It was thus foretold in the Psalms that He would be descended from David according to the flesh through the Holy Spirit (Psalm 131:11: “Lord David swore in truth and he will not be disappointed. ” I will place the fruit of your womb upon my seat. Once I swore by My Holy One “If David lives, his seed will remain forever and his throne will be like the sun in My sight and like a perfect moon forever and a faithful witness in Heaven.” (Psalm 88:36).

Also in the Book of Paralipomenon (An ancient name for The First Book of Chronicles 17:3) “And the word of The Lord came to Nathan (translation confusion: without a prince – altari fehlt derPariser Hs., sie hat instead of the prince-bishop) saying go and on the day of my servant David, thus says The Lord, I announce to you that The Lord is going to build you a house, when you have completed your days to go to your fathers, I will raise up your seed after you who will be born from your sons and I will establish His Kingdom, He will build Me a house and I will establish His throne forever. I will be a father to Him and He will be My Child, and I will not take My mercy away from Him as I took it away from him who was before you, and I will establish Him in My house and in My Kingdom for ever and ever, and His throne will be most secure in forever.

3. Anyone who thinks that all these things were fulfilled in Solomon seems to be greatly mistaken. For how is it to be understood in Solomon what was said: “After you have slept with your fathers, I will raise up your seed after you, who will be of your sons, and will establish a kingdom for him” He began to reign while his father was alive. For it is said here that when your days are fulfilled, and you sleep with your fathers, I wll raise up your sed. 6. Of which the Lord Himself says through Jeremiah (23:5-6) “Behold the days are coming, says The Lord, and I will raise up a righteous branch of David, and the King will reign and be wise and He will do judgment and justice on the earth.” In his days, Judah will be saved and Israel will dwell confidently, and this is the name that our righteous Lord will call him.

7. He is the one who is promised through Nathan from th seed of David, who is also pronounced like this through the Prophet Isaias (11:1) “A rod shall come forth from the root of Jesse, and a flower shall come up from his root.” For he was from the country of Bethlehem, of the House of David, which also follows: “And the spirit of The Lord will rest upon Him, the Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding, the Spirt of Counsel and Fortitude, the Spirit of Knowledge and Piety, and the Spirit of the fear of the Lord will fill Him.”

8. For this reason, so many gifts of the Spirit should be bestowed on Him because the Holy Spirit does not dwell in Him to the extent of the spirit as in us, but the fullness of Divinity and Graces is in Him. He is the one who judges not according to the sight of the yes and the hearing of the ears, but righteousness is the girdle of His loins and faith the girdle of His loins, in whose Church dwell the world, with the lamb, certainly He who won’t snatch the prey form it, while he is turned to it, and dwells with the innocent.

9. In whose fold the leopard and the cub lie mixed together, that is, the cunning with the sinners, there also the calf of circumcision, the lion of the power of the age, the sheep of the popular order dwell together because in faith the condition of all is common. And the little boy threatening them is he who humbled himself for us as a little child. And the ox and the lion will eat the straw there. Because the prince and the subjects of the people have a common doctrine.

10. The child is also delighted by the breast above through the asp’s hole, while the nations which used to preach poisons, sometimes concerted even little children are delighted to hear the faith of Christ. For the cave rules are the hearts of the unbelievers, in which that tortuous serpent rested,whom, after being weaned, he seized and then dragged away captive so that he imght not harm him on the holy mountain which is The Church.

11. Still the same Isaiah says about Christ because He was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, so he says in what follows, (Is 11:10) “In that day the root of Jesse who stands as a sign of the peoples, the nations will plead for Him and His grave will be glorious.” It is already seen by obscurity that it has been completed, and His tomb is so glorious that when we accept that He had been redeemed for His death, we present to Him the glory, for the place itself, shining with the miracles of its glory, draws the whole world to itself.

12. 10 is read to announce to the fathers, angel is named which even the Father Himself protests to the legislator, saying (Ex 23:20, “Behold, I send My angel, who will go before and keep you on the way and bring you into the place I have prepared: observe him and listen to his voice and do not despise him you think, because he will not forgive you until you sin, and my name is in it.”

20. Will the clouds be equal to The Lord, or who will be like God, he thus announces (Is 66:6) “The voice of The Lord giving retribution to His enemies.” to those who do not believe, the Jews: ”Before she was to give birth, she gave birth, and before her delivery came, she gave birth to a male child.”

Chapter 2, That Christ was ineffably begotten by The Father centuries ago.

1. If it is asked, by what or how the Father begets the Son, the answer is why the time is asked, in what way the Son of God is begotten, while He is eternal by His birth? as it is written of Him His coming forth from the beginning.Chapter 3 That Christ under the person of Cyrus, is thus testified by Isaiah to be the father, god, and lord

25. saying “This is what my lord Cyrus says to Christ, whose right hand I have seized, that I may subjugate nations before His face and turn the backs of kings and open before Him the gates and doors that will not be shut, I will go before you and humble the glorious ones of the earth.?” I will overturn the gates of the air and break the bars of iron.

30. And I will give you hidden treasures and secrets of secrets that you may know that am The Lord who calls your name, The God of Israel.

3. For Christ was prophesied in the person of Cyrus.

5. where nations and kingdoms were subdued in faith to him, moreover, because no one in the kingdom of Israel was named Cyrus that if anyone believed these things concerning the king of the Persians, he should know that it was prophesied, absurd, and profane, that a wicked man, given to idolatry, should be called Christ, and god, and lord. Hnv 10 n the translation of the LXX does not have “Christ my Cyrus,” but has “This is what The Lord says to Christ my Lord,” which s taken specifically in the person of Christ our Lord.

4. If Christ is not a god, lt then tell us who God was in Genesis when He said “Let us make man in our image and likeness.” For thus it is subjoined “And God created man, in the image and likeness of God created He him.” Let them (nonbelievers in general and Jewish people in particular), then, who created God, or in the image of which God created man, whom He created.

5. But if they answer “To the angels, dos an angel have an equal image to God?”25

Chapter iii

7. 8. – – my hand upon them, and they shall be a prey to those who served him, and you shall

know that the Lord of hosts has sent me.

Come now, whose voice is this but the Savior’s, who 80 The almighty God testifies that He

was sent by the almighty father. He was sent to the nations after the glory of the deity,

which he had with His Father, when He emptied Himslf and the form of the resu.t of

accepting a slave is obedience unto death. And He also speaks in what follows, saying:

“Praise and rejoice, daughter of Zion, for behold, I am coming and I will dwell in our midst,

says The Lord, and in that day many nations will cling to The Lord and they will be My

people and will dwell in your midst.” And you shall know that The Lord of Hosts has sent

10. Who then is this Lord sent by The Lord of Hosts but the same Lord, Jesus Christ? It remains of

The Holy Spirit, of Whose Deity, Job says thus, and because He is The Spirit f God: “The Spirit of The

Lord made me, and th breath of the Almighty quickened me.” Behold, The Lord made me as youalso.” For he had said “The Spirit of The Lord made me,” of which he again added: “Behold, God

made me as you, in order to show that the same spirit is God.”

Chapter 4 Of the significant Trinity

1. It is clear from the instructions of The Old Testament that The Father and The Son and The

Holy Spirit are God. But on this account (Jewish) people do not think The Son and The Holy

Spirit are God.
