God’s warning to politicians, weight-lifters, and worldly people:

God still uses This Word of Jeremiah to bring people to His Catholic Church.

Question 1:  “What ‘warning’ does God give to politicians, weight-lifters, athletes, and all who put earthly things before Him?”

Answer: “The same ‘warning’ He gives to those obsessed with wealth.  Jeremiah 17:5-10: ‘Thus says The Lord: Cursed is the man who trusts in human beings, who seeks his strength in the flesh, whose heart turns away from The Lord.’

~

Question 2:  “Does God tell us how they are ‘cursed’ to spend their lives?”

Answer:  “Each one ‘is like a barren bush in the desert that enjoys no change of season but stands in a lava waste, a salt and empty earth.’

~

Question 3:  “Does God tell Jeremiah about the fate of obedient believers?”

Answer:  “‘Blessed is the man who trusts in The Lord, whose hope is The Lord.  He is like a tree planted beside the waters that stretches out its root to the stream:  it fears not the heat when it comes, its leaves stay green:  in the year of droughts it shows no distress, but still bears fruit.’

Question 4:  “Is there a ‘Catholic Connection’ in that Word of God to Jeremiah?”

Answer:  “The end of Today’s Reading tells us who passes the ‘test’ left by The Prophesied Son of God:  ‘I, The Lord, alone probe the mind and test the heart, to reward everyone according to their ways, according to the merit of their deeds.’

~

Question 5:  “And what is the greatest ‘reward’ we may earn by ‘the merit of our deeds’?”

Answer:   “The greatest ‘reward’ anyone may gain on earth are these specific ‘keys’ that Jesus died to leave to His First Catholic Pope:  ‘And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.’

Those ‘keys’ include The Seven Catholic Sacraments that let God live within us.”

Today’s Simple Rhyme:  “Out of twelve, eleven / got ‘keys to The Kingdom of Heaven..”
