Poets sum up things.

All of us have an awareness that things are not what they should be. But, few of us try to make things better.

“The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.”
William Butler Yeats

When we see howling hordes of tax-addicted citizens clamoring for “progress”, we cringe in horror at the awfulness that would accompany their having what they want. In the darkest part of their hearts, the worst of them want to be Stalin, Mao, Kim Il Sung, Castro, or Pol Pot; dictators with total, lifetime power. The lesser among them want to be in charge of smaller groups whom they can terrorize, pillage, enslave, and kill at will.

They can only achieve that goal with death and terror. As we grow in understanding the source of their “passionate intensity”, we understand that it comes from hordes of demons, darkening minds from which they have driven love.
