A new reason to be Catholic? It seemed that all the reasons for being Catholic had been brought out. This is one we may not have seen:
All Christians, even in the newest of the 40,000 schisms, believe in The Lord’s Prayer. Both Catholics and Protestants say The Lord’s Prayer. It is a shared, unifying belief. Does The Lord’s Prayer have “secret instructions” that tell us to be Catholic?
Jesus began The Lord’s Prayer by saying: “Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed by Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.”
Every person claiming to be “Christian” believes those beginning sentences of The Lord’s Prayer. Similarly, all Christians will agree that Jesus was so perfectly obedient to The Father that He suffered an agonizing death because it was The Father’s will.
It is undeniable that, since He did The Father’s Will so perfectly, all that He said and did was in accord with The Father’s wishes.
That being true, it must have also been The Father’s will that Jesus said “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.” And, it was The Father’s will that Jesus decided: “Thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church. . .” It was also The Father’s will that Jesus would found a Church, with its first service at The Last Supper, so that His Body and Blood could be provided to the faithful for coming generations, saying “This is My Body, take and eat….”
How is it possible to avoid concluding that Jesus did The Father’s will by ordaining the Apostles with the power to both provide the Sacraments and to ordain others to provide the Sacraments until the end?
So, when non-Catholics say The Lord’s Prayer, they are, at some level, reminding themselves that no one can fully obey until they are striving to worthily receive Communion in The Only Church He Founded.
Many in the 40,000 schisms will not let themselves understand that. One explanation: Little dead places in the brain. Short-circuits in trillions of neural connections keep many of us from full obedience. An analogy: earthly viruses cause “Little dead spaces” in computers.
