The Great Mystery: What happens to the “Holy Molecules” after the Bread and Wine is changed into Christ’s Body and Blood in Catholic Communion? The Bubbas know.

Do those Holy Particles simply evaporate after having been received? Or, do they remain in the recipient, slowly building up, over time. Are they an actual “deposit of faith”?

In my parish, our priest speaks frequently of his beloved “Bubbas”. They are older women, devoutly Catholic. “Bubbas” are an ever-present link between their grandparents and grandchildren. In every Catholic parish, the “Bubbas” often link five or six generations of Catholics whose lives span over a century.

Is their great faith the result of the deposit of “Holy Molecules” received in countless Catholic Communions? Is Catholic Communion cumulative, in that we are made stronger each time we receive His Body and Blood?

If, in Communion, in fact, an actual “deposit of faith” is made, do “Holy Molecules” within our body grow in influence faster than they merely accumulate? Does that “deposit of faith” within us generate a spiritual type of “compound interest”, sanctifying the molecules around them so that Christ within us grows geometrically each time we receive His Body and His Blood?

And, when a beloved “Bubba” holds her newly baptized grandchildren or great-grandchildren, are “withdrawals” made as the “Holy Molecules” deposited within her over many decades are lovingly transferred into the personal accounts of the newest generation of Catholics with each kiss?
