Many insist, “I don’t want to be a Catholic!” Mystified at the intensity, Catholics often respond “Why not? You believe in The Bible. You know that Jesus said to the First Pope ‘Thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you The Keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.’ You believe Jesus was The Messiah, predicted by the Prophets. Why wouldn’t you want to be in The Only Church He Founded?”
Those who say “I don’t want to be a Catholic!” don’t more fully consider God, Jesus, The Bible, or history. They only repeat “I don’t want to be Catholic!”.
What causes the lack of concern for consistency? How could anyone look at The Church, The Apostles, The Church Fathers, Saints, scholars, and the complete coherency of Catholic teaching for two thousand years and reject that Holy Wholeness with an emphatic “I don’t want to be Catholic!”?
Jesus drove out demons. Demons know that! Demons hate Catholic Communion. “If they eat His Body and drink His Blood, they resist us! We cannot feed on the spiritual energy of souls we can’t enter! Jesus is the only force on earth that repels us! We must make those whose souls we want to devour say “I don’t want to be a Catholic!”
There are seven deadly sins; Pride, Envy, Greed, Gluttony, Anger, Lust and Sloth (PEGGALS). These tribes of corrupting viruses get into human minds and cause short-circuits in the trillions of interconnected cells and neurons. Many who reject The Church Jesus Founded are driven by demons of Pride. They short-circuit humility and prompt the Proud conclusion, “I can deal directly with God.”
All who’ve let their souls be devoured in exchange for some transient, temporal gain are required to use their position to mock and malign The Only Church Jesus Founded. Governments, media, and human-centered group obediently echo the refrain “I don’t want to be a Catholic!”. Souls drawn into their networks of passing prestige and popularity learn to think it’s intelligent to say “I don’t want to be a Catholic!”
Many make comfortable livings as “Selective Christians” in the embarrassingly ridiculous surfeit of 43,000 schisms. “I believe some of what The Catholic Church has taught, but I if I said that artificial birth control was a sin, I’d lose half my donors! And, if I said ‘Frequent divorce and remarriage is wrong.’, I’d lose half the rest!” Such souls are being devoured by demons of Greed.
Corrupting viruses of Anger, Lust, and Sloth prompt activities, or non-activities, that hurt self and neighbor. The demons involved in inflicting such hurt for the temporary rewards of transient feelings know that their effects are negated by Absolution following Confession. Like all the demons, they are united in driving whomever they can to say “I don’t want to be a Catholic!”
When we hear “I don’t want to be a Catholic!”, are we hearing a ventriloquist’s dummy repeating what has been learned in the forecourts of hell? A sprinkling of holy water is worth all the arguments we make.
