Catholic Fundamentalism is Catholic. The “Fundamentalism” part of the name is there to honor the brave Protestant Fundamentalists who believed in the perfect, literal words of Scripture, particularly regarding Genesis, despite scorn from Babylon. Catholics & Fundamentalists, BFF.
While many mocked them, many Protestant Fundamentalists held true: “God made the world very recently. He made Adam from clay and Eve from his rib.” While many Catholics, blinded by their own enlightenment, compromised with Babylonian scientists, spewing pseudo-intellectual drivel like “Evolution may have been God’s method of bringing Adam and Eve into being.” Protestant Fundamentalists held firm. “The Word of God has no error. Each day in Genesis was a day.”
Those faithful Protestants, who had no actual knowledge of The Only Church Jesus Founded, were closer to Catholicism than they knew. Though a few went down narrow, dead-end roads that ended in death by snake bite, all held to a strong faith in Scripture while knowing practically nothing about The Church that brought The Bible into being. Many Protestant Fundamentalists got as close to God as one can get without being Catholic.
How did that awareness turn into “Catholic” Fundamentalism? Today’s Reading from Matthew 11:28-30 explains.
Jesus said to the crowds: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
The first to describe himself as a “Catholic Fundamentalist” realized that a Protestant Fundamentalist who properly looked literally at “For My yoke is easy and My burden light.” would realize, “His burden actually is “light”! He literally is the “light” of the world! He carries the light that lets men see from here to Heaven!”
Catholic Fundamentalism moved from there to become a Catholic cosmology with the realization that “God programs in particles, like 3-D pixels. He wrote and downloaded The Creation Program the way men would write and program a virtual reality movie with ordinary computer graphics. We live in a huge movie set made of 3-D pixels in which The Loving Programmer is invisible to all but the most obedient believers!”
When the great, courageous faith of Protestant Fundamentalists is combined with The Only Church Jesus Founded, we are home at last! We now see a whole new view of all there is. Now, all may more clearly see the reason to pass the “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.” test, and see that we must be obedient Catholics to pass that test, even at loss of family, friends, and support.
In Genesis, He programmed and downloaded entities that produce light for the physical world. In the New Testament, by His death and Resurrection, He provided light so that we may see our way to The Only Church He Founded and to The Saving Body and Blood that His Church alone provides, without which, He said, “. . . you do not have life in you.”
Catholic Fundamentalism lets us see that His burden actually is light. Obedient Catholics reflect it into the world. Catholics and Fundamentalists, BFF.
