Was The Flood fact or fiction?  Conventional Reality teaches:  “The Flood is simple superstition.  We smart people think it’s ridiculous.

Genesis is clear.  The Flood was real.  Water gushed from the ground.  Rain fell from the sky for “forty days”.  Mr. and Mrs. Noah, their three sons and wives, and lots of animals on Noah’s Ark were the only ones to survive.

God is powerful enough to create enough rain to cover the earth.  When The Flood waters rose, the moon’s gravitational pull began to pull a huge tidal wave around the earth.  Countless quadrillions of tons of water were pulled into a wave “higher than the mountains.”

We know that much pressure moving around the earth must cause crustal deflections.  Long chains of volcanoes began to erupt.   Long ranges of mountains were shoved upward while sediments settled and were compressed into the layers of rock we call “sedimentary”.

The soft rock was deformed by continual changes in the crust as it began to harden.  Layers of were laid down from hydrocarbons pushed up from far below, interspersed with the layers of sediment.

God may have explained to His angels:  “I am using The Flood to give free-will to future generations.  None of them will be able to tell if the crust formed by itself or if I made it.”

So, it was done.  Great evils were washed away and buried.  Dinosaurs, the spirits of fallen angels combined with human DNA, had ruled the earth.  Brontosauruses were the spirit of Gluttony, Tyrannosaurs the spirit of Rage.  It’s easy to tell where Giant Sloths came from.

Many see the fossilized bones of the “giants in the earth”.  They are too vain to ask: “Could God have done all this in The Flood?”

Was the Flood fact or fiction?  Catholic Fundamentalism suggests asking those mired in Conventional Reality, “Could it be fact?”
