hands-on-ears

John 3:16 is clear.  “God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.”  Many stop there.  Belief must lead to obedience.

It is easy to believe.  The odds that Jesus did NOT fulfill 300 prophecies predicting Him in great detail are trillions to one.

“Believing” is only a first step.  Protestant theology, such as it is, focuses on “believes”.  Protestantism ignores the “might” in ” have eternal life.”

Belief must lead to obedience.  Some are too vain to heed.

Catholics read John 15:14  “You are My friends if you obey My commands.”

He will not let disobedient enemies into Heaven. What  “commands” must we obey?

He repeated His clear call to Catholic Communion 14 times:  “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.”

His first Catholic Bishops wrote The Entire New Testament.  They repeated that “command” ten more times!  One cannot honestly read The New Testament without being struck by the frequency with which “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.” appears.

His “command” leads us to John 3:36.  “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”

Belief must lead to obedience.  “whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life.”

Those too vain to obey have an awful end:  “but the wrath of God remains on him.”

The broad path to destruction is crowded with those who say “I believe!  I believe!  It’s all I have to do!”

We may only obey “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.” by doing what we must to receive Catholic Communion.

Belief must lead to obedience.
