The silliest reason to not be Catholic is very popular. Modern Protestants love to look very serious when sharing their belief: “We need to have a ‘personal relationship’ with Jesus.”
Many of them nod their heads up and down. They try to look intelligent as they sincerely repeat “We need to have a ‘personal relationship’ with Jesus.” It is amazing that they can keep from snickering.
What does it mean to say, “We need to have a ‘personal relationship’ with Jesus?”
It actually means: “My personal idea of Jesus is more important than Jesus.” It is worse than meaningless.
Catholics are blessed to realize that such nonsense endangers the soul. We try to explain to our Protestant friends, “Jesus never said, “You are My friends if you think you have ‘a personal relationship’ with Me.”
Catholics remind the neighbors we love: Jesus did say “You are My friends if you obey My commands.”
Protestants don’t want to obey Catholic rules about fornication, easy re-marriages, abortion, pills, and implants. So, they repeat: “I have a ‘personal relationship’ with Jesus.” It is how modern Protestants justify their personal disobedience to Him.
They love an excuses for sin and disobedience. “Since I have a ‘personal relationship’ with Jesus, He has to let my soul into Heaven.”
Protestants think that lets them disobey The Only Church-Founding Decree of Jesus:
“And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”
Protestants insist: “I do not need to be in The Only Church with ‘the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven’. I have a ‘personal relationship’ with Jesus!”
The Profiteers of Protestantism will not tell their donors the truth: The only people in Heaven are those among “You are My friends if you obey My commands.”
