Catholics read James 1:1-11.  That Passage from Today’s Readings has ‘four ones’.  That does not happen often.  It begins:  ‘St James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes in the dispersion, greetings.’

Question 1:  “Are Catholics in ‘The Twelve Tribes’?

Answer:  “People from  ‘The Twelve Tribes’ moved to other areas.   Others were forcibly relocated.  They grew and multiplied.  Before that, Abraham had many other children who were sent away.  Like Mohammed, Buddha, Shiva, and other religious leaders and people may be among Abraham’s widely scattered ‘Tribes’.”

Question 2:  “What makes Catholics different from all other people?”

Answer:  “Catholics do this!  We ‘Consider it all joy, my brothers and sisters, when you encounter various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.’  Catholics also try to:  ‘. . let perseverance be perfect, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.’

Question 3:  “What should we do when we are confused by worldly concerns?”

Answer:   “‘But if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God Who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and he will be given it.’

Question 4:  “How do we get God’s answers?”

Answer:    ” Catholics obey St. James.  We  ‘.  . ask in faith, not doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed about by the wind.’

Question 4:  “How do we keep from being ‘tossed about by the wind’ of conflicting beliefs?”

Answer:  “By not ‘doubting’ any of His Words!   ‘For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord, since he is a person of two minds, unstable in all his ways.’” (emphasis added)

Question 5:  “Many people say ‘I believe in Jesus!’   And, they ‘doubt’ and disobey This Word from Him:  ‘And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.’.   Are they ‘of two minds’ and ‘unstable in all our ways’?”

Answer.  “Yes.   Obeying Every Word of Jesus lets our soul blossom forever in Heaven!  ‘The brother in lowly circumstances should take pride in high standing, and the rich one in his lowliness,  for he will pass away ‘like the flower of the field.’  For the sun comes up with its scorching heat and dries up the grass, its flower droops, and the beauty of its appearance vanishes.   So will the rich person fade away in the midst of his pursuits.’
