For 2,000 years, Catholic Teaching has been described with iron Age vocabularies. Catholic Fundamentalism describes Catholic Teachings in words our neighbors understand. Catholic Fundamentalism is old and new.
As a result of new technologies, many ignore The Only Church Jesus Founded when He Decreed to one man, one time:
“And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”
Ancient Catholic Teachings are often described with words from Iron Age vocabularies. We don’t live in The Iron Age. We live in The Age of Electron Control. Catholic Fundamentalism is new and old. We boil down The Book of Genesis:
“God created Creation in Six Programming Sessions. Using what we easily imagine as “multi-dimensional pixels”, God downloaded the set decorations and stage props for The Big Movie.
Each Programming Session brought New Programs into Being. The stage was decorated with systems and beings. Many of them glowed in space. Plant and Animal Programs could replicate!
In the Sixth Programming Session, He programmed The First Actor. Adam had limited programming skills. And, Adam had free will. He could choose to obey God.
Or, not.
Then, The Loving Programmer modified the “Adam Program”. Eve arrived on stage. Then, the corrupting virus. “God threw me out of Heaven. I’ll fix Him! I’ll corrupt His beloved human programs!”
God knew that would happen. The Creation Program ran for awhile. Lots of sin and error. He erased most of the human programs in The Flood. A wall of water several miles high washed around and around the earth. It pushed up mountains. It laid down sedimentary rocks. Lots of fossils! The world was re-surfaced to provide free will to future generations. “We know the earth came into being by accident. There is no need for God.”
Then, God made a deal with Abraham. “If you do what I say, you’ll have descendants beyond counting.”
Abraham agreed. Some of His descendants fell into sin. Prophets appeared. God gave them knowledge of Future Downloads. “A Messiah will come and give all obedient people a chance to get to Heaven.”
His Son arrived at the prophesied time and place. He spoke One Church Into Being by Decreeing:
“And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”
The Only Church He Founded has been led by Successors to Peter for 2,000 years.
It’s as simple as that. Catholic Fundamentalism is old and new.
