Catholics have an amazing perspective.

Catholics have an amazing perspective.

Catholics know that our own mother’s ova was smaller than a grain of salt.  The molecules of DNA from our mother’s ancestors are contained in that tiny speck.  All the DNA molecules from our father’s ancestors were in the single cell that fertilized our mother’s ova.  That cell was about the size of a grain of talcum powder.

Our immortal soul is the tiny spark of life that came into being at the moment of our conception.  Our spirit, mind, and body were compiled around a tiny spark as big as a grain of salt.  Our soul pulls in elements and compounds from our mother to according to the plan downloaded from our parents’ DNA as we grow.  The soul may stay as small as that grain of salt while the mind and body take form according to its blueprints.

Two million grains of salt will fit in a cup.  168 cups will fit in a carry-on bag.   Catholics have an amazing perspective.  The 336,000,000 souls of every living American would fit in one carry-on bag.

God told us to love our neighbors.  So, we ask God to bless our neighbors’ souls.  We are asking God to bless souls that would fill a carry-on bag.

Catholics ask God to bless our own soul.  And, we ask Him to bless the souls of our parents, grandparents and ancestors.  We ask Him to bless the souls, lives, and endeavors of our children, our grandchildren, and all their descendants.   Starting with Adam and Eve, six billion ancestors contributed DNA molecules to us.

When we ask God to bless the souls of all our ancestors who ever lived, we are asking Him to bless souls that would fill a dozen and a half carry-on bags.

Catholics have an amazing perspective.  We realize that God has written and downloaded The Creation Program.  It is a huge, long-running 3-D movie.  We are all actors on the set of The Big Movie.  Catholics do not get distracted by stage props and set decorations.  When our performance is over, we meet The Critic.  We want a favorable review!

He gladly greets obedient souls who had enough sense to pray for the souls of actors in earlier, and future, performances.
