He Who will Judge us was clear: “I come to bring division.” Catholics are blessed with simple souls. We connect “division” to John 15: 14, “You are My friends if you obey My commands.” The opposite of “friends” is “enemies”. Elsewhere, Jesus mentions “fire” and “sword” as part of the process of “division”.
Catholics know that Jesus will judge our immortal soul. In any court, on Heaven or earth, is insane to not want to be among the “friends” of The Judge! Catholics are blessed with simple souls. We take literally “You are My friends if you obey My commands.”
Protestants tend to be satisfied with “trust”, “faith”, and merely “believing”. They do not take “You are My friends if you obey My commands.” as seriously.
Catholics are blessed with simple souls. There is wisdom in simplicity. Psalm 119: 130 makes clear. “As your word unfolds it gives wisdom to the simple.” Simple Catholic souls are wise enough to understand: we must obey His clear call to Catholic Communion. We are afraid to disobey what He repeated 14 times: “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.”
Catholics understand that instruction as the “sword”. It cuts His “friends” off from His enemies.
We know that “Many are called. Few are chosen.” How many are chosen? Matthew 10:34 and Luke 12:51 tell that two out of five may be saved. In Luke 17:34-35, half are saved. We may only be among His friends if we obey His instructions.
Those who obey are His “friends”. Can those who intentionally and knowingly disobey “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.” avoid being among His enemies?
Catholics are blessed with simple souls. We know His actual Body and Blood are only available at every Catholic Mass since His Last Supper. We see the difference between “life” and death. We see the difference between “friends” and enemies. We obey. We have “life in us”. We are His “friends”.
