Catholics think about thinking.  So, Catholics know what thinking is.

Our brain is a library.  Our spirit is the “librarian within”.  It goes from shelf to shelf, book to book, chapter to chapter, page to page, sentence to sentence, word to word, letter to letter.  Our “librarian within” pulls things from the  countless billions of photons frozen in the atoms of our memory molecules.

Every day, we send trillions of “frozen photons” into our mind.   They are filed.  The “librarian within” re-files them in the proper place while we are asleep.  That lets the “librarian within” find them when they’re needed.

Catholics know what thinking is.  We know there is something more in us than the “librarian within” that only files and finds the “frozen photons”.

Hebrews 4:12 tells us that our soul is above our spirit that is the “librarian within”.  “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

“the intentions of the heart” is our soul.  It tells our spirit, our “librarian within” what to do.  Some souls send their spirit into the dark basement of the library, where the frozen photons of sin are stored.  Some souls have their spirits spend so much time there that they stain themselves with sin.

Some souls seek God, goodness, love, and truth.  They send their “librarian within” to the higher, brighter floors beneath the skylights above.  Those of goodwill shun the shelves filled with books glorifying memories and desires of pride, envy, greed, gluttony, anger, lust, and sloth.

Those who seek the greatest obedience to The God Who Made Them move up to the highest shelves in the highest stacks.  There, the most obedient find instructions on how to grow closer to God.  We realize that He made all there is.  He made the sources of all the “frozen photons” and all the minds that hold them.  He left us a way to find Him.  He said to those who truly search for His Truth:

“Verily, verily I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”
