Does The First Commandment say: “Be Catholic!”?

Does The First Commandment say “Be Catholic!”?   It teaches:  “You shall have no other gods before Me.”

Jesus, The Second Person of The Trinity, is God.   Therefore, it was God Who Decreed The Only Church He Founded Into Being when He said:

“I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”

Amazingly, many people put themselves before God.   They refuse to obey His Church-Founding Decree!  They do pretend to put God first when they say, “I believe in God!  And, I believe in Jesus!  I just ignore some of the things He said!”

That is violating “You shall have no other gods before Me.”

When we willfully put our own opinions and beliefs before Jesus, we have violated The First Commandment.  We have put ourselves “before God”  We have violated The First Commandment!

A greater vanity leads many to encourage others to break The First Commandment.  “You don’t have to be in The Only Church Jesus Founded!  Our denomination is just as good!  We are friendly, and welcoming!”

Some choose human needs, like “welcoming friendliness”.  What happens when we put our desire to feel good about ourselves “before God”?  We have put the idol of “self” before Him.  We have broken The First Commandment.

We cannot get into Heaven without respectful obedience.  When we willfully decide to believe:  “I will reject The Only Church Jesus Founded.” we are announcing:  “I know more than Jesus.  I choose to reject The Only Church He Founded.  I put my desires before God!”

We are all in a war with that vanity.  We desire to do as we please.  Catholics are blessed.  We respect God enough to be in The Only Church He Founded.

Does The First Commandment say:  “Be Catholic!”?

Yes!
