Today’s Wall Street Journal reports that a nuclear reactor in New England may be closing. The prices that it charges for electricity were too low, making other forms of energy look ridiculously expensive.
Other power lunacy is taking place on the other side of the world. In Australia, most power comes from coal-burning generators. Power in Taiwan, where generators run on coal that is mined and purchased in Australia, is much less cheaper than electricity produced in Australia with Australian coal.
We are made ever-less prosperous by environmentalists. They have become shills for charging English-speaking countries more for power instead of raising taxes to pay for the bloated salaries, benefits, and pensions of the public sector unions. Another permanent inducement for gouging people with higher than necessary power costs are the very well organized people profiting from wind and solar generation schemes that are incapable of working efficiently.
