Horizontal vs. Vertical

Most of our concerns are horizontal. We work to ensure that we have adequate cash flow to survive and prosper. Most of our efforts are expended on various types of material goods around us.

Above us is a level that’s invisible to those who spend all their time looking around them for opportunities on earth. We should endeavor to spend some time looking up, as well. There, we find The Loving Programmer, realize that He has programmed and downloaded each of us human programs within The Creation Program.

As we spend more time considering Him and His Program, we tend to do better with our earthly concerns.

When we have children, we are thinking vertically. We are stop spending so much effort on getting as we do on giving. We see our children as our effect on, and links to, the future. Then, we realize that we have a clear duty to do our best for them. The best thing we can do is provide them access to The Loving Programmer. That’s done through the Sacraments.

We should always do what we can to encourage Baptism and Confirmation. From them, our children download the guidance they need to have and properly raise children of their own.

Children deprived of access to The Loving Programmer simply don’t do as well. So, we should think vertically, and rise through time.
