Most people end up in hell because they believed “I am a good person.”   “I needed to divorce my spouse, shatter my family, and remarry.  I am going to Heaven.”  Why?  “I am a good person.”  Ridiculous.

Many of us disobey The Commandments.   Sins are compounded by insisting:  “I am a good person.”  Many use abortion-inducing birth control that kills billions of tiny, unborn babies.  They find self-absolution by repeating “I am a good person.”

We all hear ourselves thinking or saying:   “I am a good person.”  An alarm should go off!  “Uh-oh!  I am trying to justify something wrong.”

The compulsion to feel good about ourselves makes “I am a good person.” one of the most frequently repeated sentences in our minds.

Every improper thought, word, or deed is followed with the lie, “I am a good person.”  Even though we know “all have sinned and fallen short of The Glory of God.” we help ourselves think we are better than we are by repeating “I am a good person.” about every sin of commission or omission that stains our soul.

Jesus gave those ordained in living link with The First Catholic Bishops the power to forgive sins.  “Those whose sins you forgive on earth are forgiven in Heaven.”  He gave that power to no one else!

Those who obey Jesus confess our sins and receive Absolution.  Then, we may obey the clear call to Catholic Communion He repeated 14 times:  “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.”

Telling ourselves, “I am a good person.” does not cleanse us of any sin.  “I am a good person.” is a delusional vanity that makes us equal to God.  “I did not need Jesus to establish One Church with ‘the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.’  I can get into Heaven by myself.  I am a good person.”
