Two hundred years ago, nine out of every ten people were employed in food production. The process was cumbersome and complicated. Food was ridden with disease.
Now, one or two people produce enough germ-free food for a hundred. The entire process is more automated than ever.
Similar improvements in efficiency have taken place in mining and manufacturing. Two hundred years ago, people often died in their 40s. Now, lifespans are much longer. Despite what we think we see when we’re shopping, many things are cheaper now.
These vast increases in production took place in free countries. In free countries, advancements in one field are easily applied in other areas. Those who like to do new things in new ways prefer freedom. As a rule, societies start out with more freedom. Over time, they end up with most everyone in some sort of slavery.
Many people believe that security comes from not changing. They gravitate toward tax-supported jobs where their salaries are guaranteed at the point of a gun.
Theft-based systems never work, never get better, and glorify stagnation. Nations controlled by thieves are poorer, less pleasant places to live. They turn into police-state tyrannies.
Those who want tax-supported jobs need armed, regulatory power to guarantee that money will be taken from neighbors and given to them. They work for bigger, more powerful taxing authorities. And, they tell endless lies to justify theft and death.
What does The Only Church Jesus Founded say about economics? As more of us approach Judgment, we worry about getting into Heaven. To that end, we make greater effort to love God and neighbor.
As we focus on getting our souls into Heaven, we show greater love for God and neighbor. The economy gets better for everyone.
