One reason the most faithful Fundamentalists become Catholic:

The following passage from John, 6, 54-56 was hard for many of the early disciples. When Jesus said:

“Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.”, many of His followers left Him.

In an earthly life filled with the unusual, that statement is among His most bizarre. The Roman Catholic Church takes His words literally by providing us with the Sacrament of the Eucharist. In that Sacrament, by the Miracle of Transubstantiation, the wafer and wine become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.

If we are to be truly Fundamentalist, we have to take His Word seriously, believe in it, and obey. Failing to do so because of earthly concerns and prejudices is to miss our biggest chance at the best. At worst, this failure to take seriously and obey is a Commandment violation. Believing that Jesus is the Second Person of The Trinity, God, Himself, while ignoring what He says, is putting the lesser god of our own vanity, before Him. Not a good idea.

Participating in the Eucharist shows that we are obeying His words.
