Our beloved “Daily Readings” give us simple reasons to be Catholic! #2.

Many are kept from being Catholic by loving human opinions more than Truth from Jesus and His Church.

Question 1:  “Does Today’s Daily Catholic Reading tell us to ‘Be Catholic!’?”

Answer:  “1 John 5:1-6 tells us to ‘Be Catholic!’ by teaching:  “Beloved:  (That word divides the ‘beloved’ from those who are ‘unloved’.   Some may be ‘hated’.)  Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is begotten by God, and everyone who loves The Father also loves The One begotten by Him.’  All who are ‘beloved’ enough to heed God’s Call to Christ are ‘begotten by God’.

~

Question 2:  “What chosen group of ‘Christians’ are among the ‘Beloved’?”

Answer:  “That Word identifies Christians who ‘love God enough to obey His commandments’.   ‘In this way we know that we love the children of God when we love God and obey His commandments.  For the love of God is this, that we keep His commandments.’ ”

~

Question 3:  “Is it hard to obey The ‘Commandments’ of Jesus?”

Answer:   “By this Miracle, it is not!  ‘And His commandments are not burdensome, for whoever is begotten by God conquers the world.'”

~

Question 4:  “What lets us ‘conquer the world’?”

Answer:  “‘And the victory that conquers the world is our faith.  Who indeed is the victor over the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?'”

~

Question 5:  “How can Catholics be ‘victors over the world’?”

Answer:  “We obey the ‘Church-Creating Catholic Commandment’ from Jesus:  ‘And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.'”

~

Question 6:  “What do Catholics gain by being Catholic?”

Answer:  “We gain what Jesus specifically promised to those blessed to be in His One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic  Church!   ‘I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.’!”

~

Question 7:  “What lets Catholics have those ‘keys’?”

Answer:  “Jesus makes that clear in Today’s Gospel Reading from John 20:19-31.  It includes The Power He gave His Catholic priests to forgive our sins so we could get into Heaven!  ‘As The Father has sent Me, so I send you.”  And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.  Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.'”

~

Question 8:  “What other ‘keys to The Kingdom of Heaven’ can only Catholics receive?”

Answer:  “Jesus repeated His Call to Catholic Communion 12 times in the last half of John 6 and twice more at The Last Supper:  ‘If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.’

Jesus empowered His Catholic priests to forever provide His Body and Blood by The Power of Transubstantiation at every Catholic Mass.  When His priests have forgiven our sins, they provide us with His ‘life’ from Heaven.

May all be blessed to be Catholic and receive The Fulness of God within us by obeying Christ’s “commandments”.  They are not “burdensome”!
