Each of us is on a road, and all roads lead to Rome. To get there, we need to stay on our road and keep moving, all the way to the end. The journey can be quick for those who are called near their end. Others, who began the travel earlier in their lives, have the joy of believing for many decades.
No matter how we got on the road we’re on, we’re on it. Our job is to stay on it. We know we must do as instructed and “endure to the end”.
There are ambuscades along the way from which volleys of doubt and temptation blaze away at us. We keep on going, sometimes skipping, sometimes running, sometimes plodding, but going on. And, we never forget to be thankful to, and for, those who have shown us the way or helped us along, both by word and example.
Personally, I thank God for Catholic Fundamentalism. Understanding that God has the power to program particles and compile them into things, systems, and beings has been a great help. No matter what doubts are fired by those who spend their lives doing such things, the other side has no answer to this very, very deep appreciation of God’s power and intellect.
With Catholic Fundamentalism, everything our spiritual forefathers believed makes just as much sense today as it did, then. Now, we can see and understand how the Genesis account of Creation could be literally true by realizing that it was brought into being by countless trillions of angelic sub-programmers who downloaded His Creation Program to become the universe around us.
And, we can see why that very same Genesis account has to be so staggeringly unbelievable to those who refuse to acknowledge God’s greatness and power. Like most of what is, it’s there to separate sheep from goats.
If we have any sense at all, we pray to be numbered among the sheep. His sheep.
