Imagine that you live next door to a very nice older woman, a widow. Sometimes, you give her a hand trimming, mowing, or moving things.
Then, imagine that an awful legal problem emerges. You find that you are at great risk of loss and it’s possible that you could end up in prison for a very long time. It turn out that not only have you been accused of wrongdoing, but also, that the particular group that’s setting you up is looking for an opportunity to “set an example”.
While discussing your problem with the woman next door, you discover that her son is the judge who will hear your case. So, you explain what’s happened. Yes, you did make a mistake, but did not think it was so bad that it should ruin your life. She explains your problem to her son, and asks him, for her sake, to be merciful to you. Suddenly, miracle of miracles, the sentence is bearable. A great weight is lifted from your shoulders.
We are all destined for an unavoidable session with a judge. The possible punishments we can receive are frightening. We are insane if we don’t ask His Mother to intercede for us while we still have time to do so. Sanity is asking for help. It’s insane to go before the Judge without first asking His Mother for help.
