Today’s Reading, from Mk 12:28-34, illustrates a problem common to every age, including our own. The timeless problem concerns breaking free of the world and the programmed entities turning to God, The Loving Programmer of all.
“One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked Him,
‘Which is the first of all the commandments?’
Jesus replied, ‘The first is this:
Hear, O Israel!
The Lord our God is Lord alone!
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your mind,
and with all your strength.
The second is this:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
There is no other commandment greater than these.’
The scribe said to Him, ‘Well said, teacher.
You are right in saying,
He is One and there is no other than He.
And to love Him with all your heart,
with all your understanding,
with all your strength,
and to love your neighbor as yourself
is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.’
And when Jesus saw that he answered with understanding,
He said to him,
‘You are not far from the Kingdom of God.’
And no one dared to ask Him any more questions.”
The last sentence shows us clearly that the Truth was right in front of them. We also see that no one in the group around Him dared to get any closer to It. To do so would force them to leave the comfortable positions they held in Conventional Reality. The larger lesson is that it’s hard for most people to move away from the familiar, Old Programming Log into the New. The scribe understood the words of Jesus, and agrees that they are true. But, he dared come no closer.
Those mired in the world cannot move closer to truth, love, and salvation because. They are too attached to the programmed entities and familiar ways to seek God and obedience. That violation of The Commandment, “Thou shalt have no gods before Me.” is what separates people into the weed and goat categories.
In every age, people are meant to be divided. Some realize that Christ may be, or actually is, the fulfillment of the prophets. They understand His truth, but fear to get closer. Others make the necessary adjustments (mostly, controlling vanity) to let themselves work with the new, greater Truth, that The New Download made it possible for human programs to work directly with The Loving Programmer.
Those who will be saved overcome their fear of the unknown and their love of the comfortable. They will dare to “ask Him any more questions”. Thanks for reading Saved Seek Truth.
