Very scary reading from Jeremiah.

Today’s Reading is from Jeremiah 18: 1-6.  Like much of Jeremiah, it is scary and instructive about how we, in the once more Christian nations, are being punished by God.

“This word came to Jeremiah from the LORD:
Rise up, be off to the potter’s house;
there I will give you my message.
I went down to the potter’s house and there he was,
working at the wheel.
Whenever the object of clay which he was making
turned out badly in his hand,
he tried again,
making of the clay another object of whatever sort he pleased.
Then the word of the LORD came to me:
Can I not do to you, house of Israel,
as this potter has done’ says the LORD.
Indeed, like clay in the hand of the potter,
so are you in my hand, house of Israel.”
In earlier times, God used Syrians, Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans to punish those in the Twelve Tribes who’d intentionally gone astray.
Today, Moslems and Communists are His scourge.  So are all who worship false gods.  Their vanity keeps them from seeing when their ideas are wrong.
He gives us an analogy so perfect that it requires conscious effort to ignore it.
We may have worked with clay on a potter’s wheel.  We know how the potter  forms the clay with hands.  He discards what does not meet his approval.   Only fools will not make the connection between that and the fact that God will throw us away if we do not make what we should of our own lives.
When we look at abortion, birth control, euthanasia, pornography, and all the other sins flooding our countries, we see that we have not obeyed His instructions.  Today’s very scary reading from Jeremiah is directed at each of us.  We must heed and obey, or His scourges will whip us bloody unto death.
We can see.  We realize that our nations and their operations are increasingly taken over by those He uses to punish us, Communists and Moslems.  The Loving Programmer can only stay His hand if enough of us stop wasting time, obey His operating instructions,  and start praying for deliverance.
