Today’s “One-minute Reason to ‘Be Catholic!'” #16.

Being Catholic lets us be “bright enough” to see why we should be “poor in spirit”.

~

Question 1: “What is Today’s ‘One-minute Reason to ‘Be Catholic!’?”

Answer:  “This Word from Jesus Christ in Mt. 5:3-4, ‘Blessed are the poor in spirit;  for theirs is The Kingdom of Heaven.’ tells us that only the ‘poor in spirit’ can get into ‘The Kingdom of Heaven’.”

~

Question 2:  “How do we know if we are too ‘rich in spirit’ to get our soul into Heaven?”

Answer:  “God’s First Commandment is a clear warning:  ‘Thou shall have no other gods before Me.’   ‘Rich spirits’ put themselves ‘before God’ by believing:  ‘I am so wonderful that God has to let my soul into Heaven!’

~

Question 3:  “How do we know if we are ‘poor in spirit’?”

Answer:  “People who are ‘rich in spirit’ willfully ignore The Church-Creating Word of Jesus to His First Catholic Pope!  ‘And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.’

~

Question 4:  “Did Jesus tell those who meaningfully follow Him how to be ‘poor in spirit’?”

Answer:  “Mt. 6:19-23:  ‘Jesus said to his disciples:  ‘Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal.
But store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.’

~

Question 5:  “How do we know that Catholics have ‘the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven’?”

Answer:  “Only Catholics are led by priests and religious who take Holy Vows of Poverty, Celibacy, and Obedience.  Our leaders are so ‘poor in spirit’ that they strive to live as Jesus lived.”

~

Question 5:  “Why isn’t everyone who believes in Jesus a Catholic?”

Answer:  “Jesus tells us that Willful Protestants are not ‘bright’‘The lamp of the body is the eye.  If your eye is sound, your whole body will be filled with light;  but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be in darkness.  And if the light in you is darkness, how deep that darkness is.’

~

Every time we willfully choose to disobey Any Teaching of Jesus, our soul becomes ‘darker’.
