Why Babylonians hate and fear The Church.

Today’s Reading includes II Kings 11: 13-19. It explains what happens to those who do evil when God’s faithful are aroused by holy, faithful leaders.

“Then Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD as one party and the king and the people as the other, by which they would be the LORD’s people; and another covenant, between the king and the people. Thereupon all the people of the land went to the temple of Baal and demolished it. They shattered its altars and images completely, and slew Mattan, the priest of Baal, before the altars. Jehoiada appointed a detachment for the temple of the LORD. All the people of the land rejoiced and the city was quiet, now that Athaliah had been slain with the sword at the royal palace.”

Those who revel in the death of innocents know they are going to hell forever. So do those who know they are lying to justify stealing from their neighbors. Those who hurt families and neighbors are also accursed.

They know this, even as they go on behaving in such a way as to avoid belief and obedience.

Babylonians know what happened to Mattan, so they attack The Church. They know what happened to the evil ruler, so they attack The Church. They know what is going to happen to their immortal souls, so they attack The Church.

Babylonians Connect the Dots that lead from disbelief to death to damnation. They don’t like where they’re going, but keep moving in that direction. The Garden is self-weeding.
